I. WHAT TO ACHIEVE
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to
a. identify the words implied from a description clue;
b. explain a statement from a reading text through textual evidence;
c. use a reading strategy to make an inference based from a textual evidence; and
d. answer questions based from a textual evidence in a given passage.

II. WHAT TO LEARN

Reading comprehension is an important part of learning process. It enables learners
to identify the relevant information needed. However, it requires you to employ effective
strategies before learners achieve a better understanding to a particular text. Thus, this
lesson introduces one important skill to have mastery in understanding a text.

In this lesson, learners will be involved in reading texts, develop competencies in

reading, literature, writing, vocabulary development and grammar awareness.
III. WHAT TO READ

Directions: Read and understand the text below. Look for the meaning of the italicized
words for better comprehension.

Badoc: The Eye-Catching Municipality

The town of Badoc, one of the thirty one (31) municipalities in the province of
Ilocos Norte, has a lot to offer. It has seven (7) coastal barangays, and two (2) of them
are Pagsanahan Sur and La Virgen Milagrosa. These barangays are tourist destinations
because of the famous La Virgen Milagrosa Chapel,and Badoc Island, the pride of
Badoc.

La Virgen Milagrosa Chapel is where you can feel closer to God and to the nature.
The ambiance inside the chapel is different from the other. There is serenity most
especially during sunset time. The white sand beach, the floating cottages, the rides and
the hospitable residents make the place even better. Recreational activities await you in
La Virgen Milagrosa. Thousands of tourists are visiting this place and they are kept on
coming back every now and then.

And when you are in Pagsanahan Sur or La Virgen Milagrosa, and wanted to
experience Badoc Island, a fifteen to twenty-minute ride via motor banca is the travel
time. Its clear and shining water is indeed mesmerizing to the eyes. But always be safe
when you decide to swim there. You can also do hiking in Badoc Island. The best time
to go there is between the months of March to May when the sea is often calm. You will
be astonished, no doubt for that!

It will never be a waste of time and money when you speak of La Virgen
Milagrosa Chapel and Badoc Island, they are undeniably “instagrammable”. Definitely,
Badoc is worth visiting for, it is spectacular!

Life is happy when you lived near the sea. Fresh fish is always available. Seaweeds
and seashells are everywhere. They are ready to be cooked; ready to be served. Walking at
the seashore early in the morning is refreshing. Listening to the sounds of the waves is a
music to one’s ears. Chasing sunsets with your special someone would be worth
remembering. These are priceless. These are some of the reasons why people in
Pagsanahan and other coastal barangays are considered wealthy. We lived near the sea.
