I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
(1) organisms as having feedback mechanisms, which are coordinated by the nervous

and endocrine systems.
Standards
(2) how these feedback mechanisms help the organism maintain homeostasis to
reproduce and survive.
B. Performance
Standards
C. Learning 1. Describe the feedback mechanisms involved in regulating processes in the female
Competency/ies reproductive system (e.g., menstrual cycle). S10LT-IIIc-35
Knowledge: Define feedback mechanism.
D. Learning Skills: Explain how the nervous system works together with the endocrine system to
Objectives maintain homeostasis.
Attitudes: Relate the importance of enabling the body to maintain homeostasis.

IV. PROCEDURES
1. Opening prayer.
2. Checking of attendance.
A. Awareness
3. Review on the male and female reproductive system.
4. Recall on menstrual cycle.
Group activity. Students are grouped into 4. Each group is given one example of event where
there is coordinated function between the nervous, endocrine and the reproductive system.
B. Activity
After 15 mins, each group will present their output to the whole class.
(examples of event: breastfeeding, pregnancy and child birth, copulation, menstrual cycle)
1. How will you explain feedback mechanism in the female reproductive system?
a. Follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) stimulates the ovaries to release estrogen. High levels
of estrogen then prevent the further production of FSH.
C. Analysis
2. Estrogen also stimulates the release of leutinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland,
which in turn controls the production of progesterone. High levels of progesterone then
inhibit the further release of LH.
Body system maintain homeostasis by using feedback mechanisms. The levels of hormones
in the body is controlled by feedback. The endocrine system plays an important part in
D. Abstraction homeostasis. The nervous and endocrine systems maintain a normal range of body
temperature, amount of water in the body, amount of metabolic waste in the cell, blood
calcium level, and hormones in the blood.
Why do you shiver when you feel cold?
E. Application What will happen to your body when you skip a meal?
What is your body’s reaction when you feel hot?
1. Give one example where the body is trying to maintain homeostasis. Explain.
F. Assessment
2. Define feedback mechanism.
G. Assignment Answer Q35-Q39 on page 255 of your book.
