Dormitory Application Guidelines for International Students

of Spring semester, 2023


★ Notes ★
All freshmen of undergraduate must live in dormitory for the first 2 semesters obligatorily
for culturalization and stabilization under PNU’s International Student Management Regulations.
(optional for graduate freshmen)
※ If undergraduate freshmen cannot apply for the dormitory due to the outside housing
contract(apartment, studio, etc.) or living with family members, etc, must submit evidential
document(housing contract or statement of reasons). - refer to page 4
※ Students with 3 penalty points or more will not be allowed to apply for the dormitory.
Students have to deduct the penalty points by doing volunteer work before the start of the
dormitory application period. (Volunteer work cannot be applied for during the dormitory
application period.)
※ Since there had a lot of errors with qq.com & 163.com, please use another email address.

※ All schedules are based on Korean Time.

“meal cancelation” · Choose “a. 3 meals a day(Mon~Sun)” on online application → it will be
modified to “No meal” by ISC.
· It is not allowed to apply for meal cancelation except application period.

4. Application for meal cancelation


- For whom : Only for who can not have meals due to “religion”
※ Any other reason apart from religion reason such as allergies is not considered
appropriate for applying meal cancelation.
- Application period : 1. 2.(Mon) 10:00 ~ 1. 5.(Thu) 16:00 (same period with dorm application)
- How to apply : Email to idorm@pusan.ac.kr during application period
- Required documents : Application form for meal cancelation(as attached), and
an official document which can prove the religion
ex) • If stated religion of the country is Islam, Hinduism, etc. → copy of passport
• Certificate of Muslim or any religious certificate

※ If you don’t apply(send application form and certificate via Email) within
application period, you cannot apply for meal cancelation more.
- When applying for dormitory, choose “3 meals a day(Mon~Sun)”
→ will be modified to “No Meal” in final by ISC after application is completed.
- Applicants for meal cancelation in Spring semester will be considered to cancel meals
in Summer semester automatically as well when if applicants apply for dormitory in
summer semester.
※ In case student who stays both Spring and Summer semester wants to change the
condition of meal, it is necessary to visit PNU dormitory office when applicants
apply for the summer semester. (in case of change from ‘no meal’ to ‘have meal’ or
opposite change)

5. Submission of dorm resignation proof document among freshmen and 1st graders
- Title of Email : “신입생 기숙사 신청 포기 Giving up on joining Dormitory for freshmen”
(Clarify “Name/Application Number/Major, Dept./Contact Info” in the email)
- Document to submit(Students can give up dorm application for two reasons below.)
a. if housing contract period is still left : scanned file of housing contract
b. living with family members : statement of reasons(attached)
- How to submit : via Email(idorm@pusan.ac.kr)
- Submission : 1. 2.(Mon) 10:00 ~ 1. 5.(Thu) 16:00(same period with dorm application)

3 Announcement of the 1st successful candidates

1. Results confirmation : after 1. 9.(Mon) 18:00


on PNU International website(http://international.pusan.ac.kr)
2. Selection criteria
- 1st priority : Freshmen, Undergraduate first-grade students, KGSP students,
Exchange & Visiting students, Special scholarship students
- 2nd priority : Enrolled undergraduates & graduates
- 3rd priority : Diploma candidates (tuition payment required)
- 4th priority : Researchers, research students
3. Selection principle
- 1st priority selected above all (in case of full capacity, the younger gets priority)
- 2nd priority selected by GPA (the younger is selected in case of the same score)
- 3rd and 4th selected by age(younger gets priority)
4. Even if 1st priority students, they can be selected by 2nd choice of dormitory instead of
the 1st choice depending on the dormitory situation.
5. Unsuccessful applicants from 1st dormitory application can apply for additional
application. (refer to “6. Additional application”)

4 Dorm fee payment of the 1st successful candidates

1. Period of printout bill and payment : 1. 11.(Wed) 10:00 ~ 1. 13.(Fri) 16:00 (※ Korean Time)
2. How to pay : Acceptable by virtual account or credit card or overseas remittance
3. Notes
- Please do the payment after printing out bill and checking the exact amount.
(You can print out your bill Only in the stated period.)
- If dormitory fee is paid to other accounts(tuition or insurance account),
dormitory admission will be cancelled.
- Dormitory admission will be cancelled if payment of dorm fee is not completed by
deadline.
4. How to pay in Korea
- Print out your own bill (https://dorm.pusan.ac.kr/apply/10_bill/checkBill)
→ Check the amount of dorm fees & bank account before payment.
* Please check carefully the bank account in YOUR bill since every single candidate gets
different virtual account number.
* Bank accounts for dorm, Insurance, tuition fees are all different. (should be paid respectively.)

5. How to pay from overseas


- Click the button “Pay Now” o the website of dormitory application
(https://dorm.pusan.ac.kr/applyIs/00_login/login)
- Select your country and check the payment options
- Select the payment option (credit card or overseas remittance)
- Input the information of payer (email address/name/address/contact no. and etc.)
- Check the information
- Proceed with payment
→ Credit card : Input the credit card no.
→ Overseas remittance : Input the information of bank account
→ Paypal : paypal Login
→ Trustly, PWMB : connect with online banking
※ If your nationality is Chinese, Indian, or Vietnamese among students paying overseas,
you must attach an invoice on the last page of payment, so it is recommended to
save the bill as a PDF on the bill print page in advance and use it.
※ The payment tracking link will be sent by your email and the payment status can be
checked through the (yellow) graph displayed in the middle.
※ If payment is not available or if you have any questions about payment, please
contact with Flywire Q&A 24/7.

6. Confirmation of payment for dorm fees & Announcement of dropout for non-payment
- Dorm admission will be cancelled if payment is not completed by the due date.

(including non-payment and payment with insufficient amount within the period)
→ If you have any problem with payment due to printout errors, etc., you need to
contact ISC(International Student Center) and complete payment in the stated period.
→ It is your responsibility to be cancelled the dormitory admission due to
non-payment of the dormitory fees, and it will not be notified individually.

2. Required document : Original result document of any test(examination) that clarifies
whether the student has tuberculosis or not
(No need to submit X-ray film. It is allowed any forms of tests
that can figure out whether you have tuberculosis or not)
3. Issuing place : Any hospital in Korea or overseas(certificate acceptable issued only in
Korean or English, otherwise translation in Korean or English should be submitted.)

※ Since procedure of additional application procedure is different from the 1st selection,
you are required to read carefully.
4. Additional application can be offered if extra rooms are available after announcement of
the 1st successful candidates.

10 Confirmation of the Final notice for successful candidates

3. Please check Move-in date, dormitory online Orientation schedule etc. at the notice.
4. Confirmation of dormitory resident printout is available after 3. 2.(Thu) 12:00.
5. Refund for resignation and refusal of admission (Based on Article #17, Student Rules of
PNU Dormitory)
- Dormitory will open on 1st March officially, (allowed to move-in from 27th February
10:00). If you don’t want to move-in, you can receive full refund only if you
apply for resignation by 28th February.
- How to resign : Apply to the email idorm@pusan.ac.kr
- Period for full refund : from the starting date of payment ~ 2. 28.(Tue)
※ If you want to resign your admission from the official opening date 3. 1.(Wed), it will
be considered as Midway leave(not possible full refund).
※ It is available for you to move-in dormitory after 1st March but you cannot refund
dormitory fees for missing days.
※ A full refund is only possible if you have not checked in to the dormitory until 28th
Feb(Tue) and apply for withdrawal. (except overseas bank remittance fee)

11 Application for Roommate

1. For whom : Final successful candidates


2. How to apply : online application

3. Apply period : 2. 3.(Fri) 18:00 ~ 2. 7.(Tue) 18:00
4. Two students who’d like to be roommates should apply together.
(not valid if only 1 student applies for)
5. If you do not apply within the period, it would be randomly assigned by the dormitory
office (change is not allowed).
6. If the student you want to be a roommate with is Korean, you need to apply for
roommate via e-mail(idorm@pusan.ac.kr) with your student ID, name and your
roommate’s student ID, name during the period of roommate application.
7. If you want to have a Korean roommate, you need to apply for
roommate via e-mail(idorm@pusan.ac.kr) during the period of roommate application.
(But if there is no Korean student who wants to be, your roommate will be allocated randomly.)

3. How to apply(must submit online application and official document within application period)
a. Online application : Google form(https://forms.gle/gghtWyVMcjmPdVC36)
b. Submit official document which can prove religion(Islam) : Email (idorm@pusan.ac.kr)
ex) a copy of passport(only if the state religion is Islam) or certificate issued by
Muslim mosque and etc.
c. Applicants who already submitted document during “meal cancelation” don’t need to
submit document again. (However, you have to submit online application.)
4. Opening period : To be announced later
5. Location : Male – Woong-bee Hall A room 906 (condominium type)
Female- Jayoo Hall B1 floor
6. You can cook by yourself in the kitchen(Halal food is not served).
(Basic facilities: sink, stove, refrigerator)

※ Only bedsheet is provided(other beddings are not provided.
Because of hygiene purposes, you need to put a bed sheet on mattress.)
※ You need to bring or buy your beddings(pillow, blanket, etc) by yourself.
2. Management of entrance card
- You can get your entrance card from security office when moving in.

- You should return entrance card to security office when moving out. If your card is
lost or damaged, you have to pay for reissue cost.

※ Note
For students from Tuberculosis Risk Countries(Nepal, East Timor, Russia, Malaysia,
Mongolia, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, India,
Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Pakistan, Laos, Nigeria,
Belarus, Moldova, Angola, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Tajikistan, Republic of South
Africa, Mozambique, Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of the
Congo, Papua New Guinea, Peru), Original document of tuberculosis result is
required when you apply for D2 Visa at Embassy of the Republic of Korea in
overseas.
Thus, students from those 35 countries need 2 original documents in total, one for
Visa issuing and the other for dormitory application.

C Notes of Dorm regulations


1. The guidelines of living in Dorm
① How to enter dorm and cafeteria : Recognition of entrance card on card reader
machine at dorm entrance(or cafeteria entrance)
② How to enter room(how to use digital lock)
: Gently touch the screen with your palm → Input password(check in the security
office when you move-in) → Access
※ Please reset password after move-in by discussing with a roommate. <mandatory>
※ You should buy and change the battery by yourself.
③ Access restriction and info of cafeteria(※ Be punctual, Based on the Busan Campus)

No Entry 01:00 ~ 05:00

Bread・Cereal・Milk : 07:00 ~ 08:00


(only for students who have applied the breakfast, Mon.~Sat.)
Usage of
Breakfast : 08:00 ~ 09:00
Cafeteria
Lunch : 12:00 ~ 14:00
Dinner : 17:30 ~ 19:00

- It is mandatory for all residents in dormitories to have meals.


- How to apply : You can choose one from the options offered by each Hall .
④ Notice for Delivery service(parcel) : If it is not written your name, room number,

2. Dormitory prohibitions and other compliance


① Penalties on violators in accordance with dormitory regulations
a. Actions for Penalty Points
‧ 10 Penalty Points or more : Immediately expelled from dorm
‧ 8 Penalty Points or more : Deduction not allowed(cannot apply for dorm next semester)
‧ 3 Penalty Points or more : cannot apply for dorm(possible to apply after deduction)
b. Dormitory's website(dorm.pusan.ac.kr) - Must read regulations and penalty criteria
c. If necessary, Police can be called
② How to deduct penalty points : 1 point will be deducted per 3 hours volunteer work
(1 point deduct per 2 hours in Yangsan Campus)
(Apply for volunteer work by visiting Dormitory Administration Office.
Check details on the dormitory website.)
③ Deduct the penalty points has to be completed before the application period for dorm.
(It cannot be deducted during the application period.)
※ Students who have 3 or more penalty points, they cannot apply for dorm.

- Period to apply : 4 times a year(Spring & Fall semester, Summer & Winter semester)
