1. MARKET VIABILITY

It is a known and a very usual scenario in remote barrios the existence of small

sari-sari stores that offer limited variety of basic needs. Groceries and mini groceries

can only be found at the town proper or in some big barangays.

A. Demand

The mini-grocery intends to serve the remote barangays without reach on the

basic needs. Its intention of starting a mini grocery store is to build a standard and

one stop grocery store outlet in San Pedro, Lasam, Cagayan in the near future.

Although the propose mini grocery store will not be as big as grocery stores in

the town proper, it will ensure that it will be ready not only with the basic needs but

even beyond with the right structure in place that will support the kind of growth that

the target market expects as well as the owner have in mind while setting up the

business.

B. Target Market

All residents of Lasam, Cagayan will be the target market of Jayson’s mini-

grocery store which will be located in Brgy. San Pedro in Lasam, Cagayan. Mini

groceries will never go out of vogue no matter what season it is, which offers almost

7
NORTHERN CAGAYAN COLLEGES
FOUNDATION INC.
Ballesteros, Cagayan

complete necessities of human being. The data in the next page show the target

market of this propose business.

The target market of the proposed project.

Barangay Total Population Target Market Percentage (%)

Cabayabasan 1,202 361 30.0
Tucalan Passing 863 259 30.0
Magsaysay 1,573 315 20.0
San Pedro 1,859 1,394 75.0
Gabun 1,180 118 10.0
TOTAL 6,677 2,447
Source of Total Population per Barangay: PhilAtlas

The target market of the proposed business will be the households, students,
workers/employees and farmers too who are at the middle-level in their socio-
economic status.

C. The Supplies and Services

Supplies and products to be sold by Jayson’s Mini Grocery Store will be

acquired from suppliers that offer wholesale products. The suppliers of most of the

big groceries in town, particularly in poblacion will also be the target suppliers of

Jayson’s Mini Grocery Store.

Since online selling is booming today, products will also come from online

stores like Shoppee, Lazada and other online stores which offers promos with

minimal or no shipping fees for bulk orders.

Sources of grocery supplies and products will be enough since the wholesalers

frequently go to the place providing timely delivery of goods to target market.

8
NORTHERN CAGAYAN COLLEGES
FOUNDATION INC.
Ballesteros, Cagayan

D. Competitive Analysis

Products of Jayson’s Mini Grocery Store will cater all the needs of the target

customers which Sari-sari stores nearby do not offer with their limited resources.

Customers have limited choices when they go to small stores where their needs are

not met and they will end up with products of not their preference. That is why

Jayson’s Mini Grocery will fill in the unmet needs of the barangay people without

spending additional cost of transportation as well as having time and effort to go to

the Poblacion.

Its business site will be accessible to all its service area since the proposed

business will be along the National Road.

This plan extends on a possible expansion as the business will cater not only

the basic needs of the community but also dry goods and some home needs. Jayson’s

Mini Grocery Store will render the best service to the customers at their convenience.

And with the increasing number of populations every year, it is expected that demand

will surely increase and Jayson’s Mini Grocery Store will grow vigorously for it shall

extend free delivery services to far barangays.

9
NORTHERN CAGAYAN COLLEGES
FOUNDATION INC.
Ballesteros, Cagayan

2. ORGANIZATIONAL VIABILITY

The propose mini-grocery will be a sole proprietorship managed by the owner

who will act as the over-all in charge of operations. Since the project will be a little

bit big, considering that it will cater 3-4 nearby barangays, it will offer free delivery

services where the owner will be hiring four workers to help manage and operate the

project.

It will ensure that people who will be hired are qualified, honest, customer

centered and are ready to work to help build a prosperous business that will benefit all

the stake holders (the owners, workforce, and customers).

As matter of fact, profit-sharing arrangement will be made available to all the

staff and it will be based on their performance for a period of time. In view of that,

the owner will hire qualified and competent hands to occupy the following positions.
