PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s a new year, Kappa Theta Sisters,

Happy 2024! The chili supper was a big hit once again! Our superintendent opened
the evening with prayer and the retired teachers and administrators enjoyed
seconds of the delicious desserts and chili with all the xings. Thanks for donating
In this issue… all the items for the meal and the committee did an amazing job of decorating,
setting up and serving.

We had the best time at our February Bi-Chapter Meeting at Angelina’s Don Louis
Topic Page Mexican Restaurant in Hickory Creek on February 19, 2024. The food was
delicious and fellowship was a lot of fun. We were given a penny and shared things

condolences to the family of one of our DKG sisters, Nancy Newton, who passed away on Nov. 4.

the pleasure of knowing her.

JANUARY MEETING MINUTES


Program. The annual Chili Supper honoring LISD administra ve sta and the induc on of new members
were both held before the business mee ng.
Business Mee ng.
Call to Order. President Venita Blake called the chapter mee ng to order at 5:49 p.m.
Medita on. Venita gave the medita on. She told a tale about four boys concoc ng a tale about missing a
test due to a fake at re and how their teacher got revenge! The moral was to make wise decisions. She
told everyone to make wise decisions and choices in 2024.
Quorum. Venita called for a quorum; quorum was met.
September Mee ng Minutes. The minutes are approved as wri en in the December 2023 newsle er.
President’s Report. President Venita Blake thanked Pa y Bode for the great job she did planning our
Christmas party and Kim Kinnaird for the wonderful newsle ers she has been crea ng.
Treasurer’s Report. The account amounts are as follows. Regular Savings: $4268.56; Grant-in-Aid Fund:
$324.81; Marjory Vickery Fund: $2527.14; Checking: $4381.13; Total: $11501.64.
New Business.
Commi ee Reports.
Bi-Chapter Mee ng and Dinner. Venita announced that the February Bi-Chapter mee ng and dinner will be
held on February 19, 2024 at Angelina’s in Hickory Creek. Members will be ge ng an invita on and need to
RSVP by January 19.
Wri ng Project. Chair Nancy King said that the scoring of the wri ng contest entries will be held in March.
The Mid-Year ASTEF Report is due on January 31, 2024 for our wri ng grant.
S lwell. Chair Janice Eason said that a list for items needed for S lwell would be forthcoming.
Nomina ons Commi ee. Chair Alisha Odoms asked for members to please serve willingly if you are asked
to be an o cer or commi ee chair for the next biennium.
Upcoming Business.
Finance Commi ee. The Finance Commi ee will be mee ng soon to set next year’s budget.
Upcoming Events. New member orienta on will be held on February 5, 2024 at the Bolin Building. The Bi-
Chapter mee ng and dinner will be held on February 19, 2024. Our next chapter mee ng will be held on
March 4, 2024. The program will be “Therapy Dogs”, and it has been approved for CTE credit.
Celebra ons. Birthdays. Venita Blake presented the December and January birthday members their
birthday pies. December: Trela Weesner; January: Carisa Armey, Janice Eason, and Natasha Millard.
Jubilee Moments.
Patricia Dawson announced that she has been selected to be the Chief of Schools at Ponder ISD.
Venita Blake wished everyone a happy 2024. Alisha Odoms said that she is happy to have all our new
members. Robin O’Bier said that she was having health problems in 2023 and is hoping she is healed in
2024. Dani Pinckard said her daughter turned ve years old today! Sherry Thompson announced that her
son and daughter-in-law’s band was named the 2023 TX State Marching Band 3A bronze medalists! She
traveled to San Antonio to watch them perform.
Announcements. Venita said, “Li up the world, wash your hands, and don’t touch your face!”
Thank Yous. Venita thanked the Chili Supper hostesses, the greeters, and the Ceremonies Commi ee.
Adjournment. The mee ng was adjourned at 6:32 pm, followed by the singing of the second verse of The
Delta Kappa Gamma Song.

UPCOMING EVENTS…
The Tuesday, April 2nd meeting will be our annual Writing Project Award Ceremony at the Lewisville High
School Auditorium. If you are available to help score the writing submissions on Saturday, March 9th from 2:00 -
4:30 pm, please email Nancy King at nancyhking@verizon.net. The committee will be working in the small
conference room at the Lewisville Public Library.

If you plan to attend the RAW - Regional Area Workshop on Saturday, June 22nd in Decatur, please send your
name and $50 registration fee to Judy Kemler before the end of March. Her address is 821 8th Street, Argyle, TX
76226. Judy will complete one registration form for our chapter with all attending members listed. Our chapter
will provide 2 greeters for the workshop. If you would like to serve as a greeter, please tell Venita.
