I still remember that magical Saturday morning so many years ago. I woke up to my Dad standing
in the doorway of my bedroom. He was excitedly beckoning me to wake up and telling me about
something he was clearly very keen to show me. At that moment I could not really care much
about what he was saying and gesticulating about as I was pretty groggy with sleep and as it was
summer vacations I was always catching up on my sleep and couldn’t care much about anything
but savoring my coco puff breakfast and watching a brand new episode of Ed Edd n Eddy one of
my all-time favorite cartoons.
But when I did manage to rub the sleepies out of my eyes I saw what my dad had in his hands. It
was an old wooden box with some faded graphics printed on top of it. There were a lot of metal
strips shown on the printing with some kids assembling those tubes and strips into marvelous
mechanisms. It was on that fateful magical Saturday morning that I fell in love with mechanics.
For that old banged up Meccano set from my dad’s childhood was the moment of impetus that
gave rise to my passion i.e. mechanical engineering.
I spent that amazing morning with my dad while he rekindled his love for building systems and
discovered mine for engineering. With every bolt and sprocket my eyes widened with wonder and
amazement at how seemingly trivial tubes and strips could come together and move in tandem to
create complex mechanisms that move and swish and flick. I not only discovered one of my
greatest passions working with the Meccano set I also discovered the joy of camaraderie and
team work. I learned that achieving a goal is not enough it’s in fact the journey and the process
and how you make friends and learn things along the way. This is what really adds value to one’s
experience and it’s this event that I always look back to whenever I dive into a project, to capture
that magic of that magical morrow.
In pursuit of my dual passion i.e. management and engineering I have taken a lot of leaps forward.
I never miss an opportunity to participate in school and out of school student led events. I love to
do some politicking as well as I believe we are social animals and politics and the ability to
schmooze and convince our fellows comes naturally to us. Being politically capable is a primary
human skill you can be very gifted academically but if you can’t get people behind you will never
manage to make lasting and meaningful changes in the world. Keeping this in view I undertook a
managerial role at my recent most collaboration STELLAR. At STELLAR our team is working hard
to provide a workable and cost effective solution of sunlight tracking solar panels to Bond E
Shams a very impactful NGO which I have also interned with. I am very inspired by the way they
have been providing clean drinking water to people in the remotest and sometimes very dangerous
places of the world.
I want to do my part and leave a positive legacy for my juniors and peers in the form of a
practically implemented solution in the form of SOLARC the device that will allow Bond E Shams to
increase efficiency and water allow a bigger window for their water pumps to service those most
in need. I am also an avid writer and love taking part in essay competitions. My most recent foray
into this field was my submission at the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Essay
Community disruption
My family, like many others, did not consider the Covid-19 Pandemic seriously at first, until my
mother and I were found positive in 2021. Studying when afflicted with corona became a
mammoth activity, as seen by my 9th and 10th grade results. I had a very bad grade simply
because I was unable to study for the 3.5 months I suffered from Covid and another 3 months
while healing. After a substantial decline in my grades, I ended up fortunate enough to complete
my studies in the last two months and receive an average grade. During such times, I had to sit
and explain that it wasn't my fault, and I climbed out of it. Later, when I began high school,
teachers were taken aback by my internal examinations and, finally, my final grade. I had just
enough time to prepare and aced my examinations. Despite the fact that it was a significant
setback, I am still here enrolling to my determined institution with a respectable high school GPA
and SAT score. This experience taught me how to climb out of setbacks and still give your all
when the circumstances are stacked against you.
