For Through (Bolt and Nut style) Pins

1. Align pin and bearing bore as accurately as possible.
2. Insert pin installation tool (1079704) into one side of the clevis until it is seated against the
bearing protector. For anchor pins ensure that the installation tool has passed through the
spacers.
3. Insert the pin into the other side of the clevis. Apply anti-seize to the pin surface.
4. Push ½” threaded rod through the tool, bearing and pin. Install nut and then pull pin into
position by tightening the threaded rod assembly. The pin will stop up against the installation
tool at a predefined depth, which results in the pin being centered in the bearing.
5. Remove the nut from the threaded rod and remove the threaded rod and installation tool.
6. Insert the expansion sleeves by applying anti-seize on each end of the pin.
7. Insert the bolt and nut for the pin assembly and torque the Nyloc nut to 60 ft-lbs.

For Through (Bolt and Nut style) Pins

1. Remove the load on the joint using appropriate support stands.
2. Remove the M12 fastener and the washers from the Expander pin.
3. Use the pin punch tool (1081827) or a 1” diameter brass punch up against the pin face and
strike it with a hammer. Strike one sharp blow on each end of the pin alternately, until the
expansion sleeves are jarred free. Remove both sleeves.

Revision Notes:

Revision A:

This Maintenance Bulletin has been updated to ensure the installer of the pin is aware
that thread lubrication is required when applying recommended torque values.

This Maintenance Bulletin has been updated to clarify that pins installed into worn
bores (e.g. during a boom repair) must be torqued repeatedly during the initial wear-
in period but pins installed into new bores (e.g. during boom replacement) only need
to be torqued during regularly scheduled maintenance intervals.

Revision B:

This Maintenance Bulletin has been updated to include the new Expander pins with
through bolt and nut style and corresponding tools for their installation and removal.
The procedure that should be followed to install and remove the new style Expander
pins has also been updated.
