Interviewer:

Good day Ms. Kanela! We extend our gratitude to you for accepting our invitation to

partake in our research which seeks to answer the question: what is the effectiveness and

efficiency of starting an online business during the global pandemic?

This study is an attempt to analyze the perceived benefits online business ventures experience

mainly the benefits of owning e-commerce businesses on ABM Senior High School Students of

New Era University. You may answer in any language you are comfortable with and we assure

you that the information we gather today will ramian highly confidential among the researchers.

With your permission we will now begin our recorded interview. Would you like to

introduce yourself?

Interviewee: Oh yes! I am Kanela Marist S. Manalo from 12-ABM-2.

Interviewer: Okay! Thanks for the introduction. Here is our first question for you. [1.] What are
the factors that helped you decide to start an online business during the pandemic?
Interviewee: My mom wanted me to take part in an activity that exercises what I have learned as
an ABM student. Me and my mom also wanted to earn extra money for the pandemic. I also
thought this would be a fun experience as a way of occupying my mind while we are at
quarantine.

Interviewer: So would you say that being an ABM student played a bigger role in your
decision?

Interviewee: No, earning extra money was the primary factor but being an ABM student did play
a role.

Interviewer: Would you please elaborate on the duties you had running the business?

Interviewee: I mostly package the orders and check for the available products. I also help in
paying the riders to deliver the order to customers

Interviewer: Oh okay. So, [2.] What were some of the influential factors that affected your
decision to start an online business?

Interviewee: The uncertainty of the pandemic was a major factor we considered in starting an
online business. My parents were adamant on just us being a casual business, we weren’t hoping
to expand and we just plan on keeping it as a side business for extra support.

Interviewer: Moving on, [3.] What are some of the advantages of starting an online business as
an ABM student?

Interviewee: I get to apply what I have learned from my strand as a business student. We get to
earn extra money as emergency funds for unexpected times. I also get to experience firsthand
and learn how to run and work for a business which I’ll be able to use for my future ventures. .

Interviewer: That’s great so on to our last question: [4.] What were some of the challenges you
encountered and how were you able to overcome them?

Interviewee: One challenge I encountered was how sometimes my school schedules and work
clash, like I would receive an order while I’m attending an online class. My mom decided to
schedule my time so that I would only work when I’m not busy or when I don’t have classes. We
also forget to upgrade our inventory system so we would be unsure if we still have stock of a
certain product without having to dig through the stockpile. We try to overcome it by always
updating our schedule which makes me develop better time management skills and
responsibility. We also have communication issues sometimes, I would be uninformed, my mom
doesn’t read my message, or I would read the order wrong. This often leads to me panicking in
finding a customer’s order because I wasn’t aware that they’d be picking up the order. Me and
my mom try to communicate often by checking our phone more often, but it does get challenging
during these times.

Interviewer: Thank you so much for taking the time to accept our invitation to interview you
today. We wish you all the best of luck in your studies!

Interviewee: You too!
