Foreword
Last y e a r,
precisely on
the 13th July,
we rolled out
our drums and
celebrated the
triumph of a
Mr. Akang set of thirty-
five students who passed out as
the pioneer graduates of Hillcrest
High. The maiden edition of the
school yearbook was also publis-
hed to mark the event. Looking
back at the faces that constituted
the pioneer set, and recalling the
tremendous achievements they
made, one cannot but continue
to cherish the memory of a set that
could safely be regarded as the
corner-stone of Hillcrest High
a s p i r a t i o n s .
It is however with a profound sense
of fulfilment that we present the
second edition of the Hillcrest
High Yearbook featuring yet ano-
ther set of indefatigueable ‘warriors’,
The Graduating Class of 2005.
Suffice it to say that like their pre-
decessors, their academic odyssey
was not without its own share of
challenges, some so daunting our
beloved students would need to
deploy all their wits and genius to
overcome. Of course, they always

did overcome and today, the
result has been an all round vic-
tory. This second edition of the
Hillcrest High Yearbook is there-
fore not just another memento
out there, it is a celebration of
a very significant aspect of the
life-time of twenty-eight young
adults whose faces, feelings and
aspirations it captures.
Perhaps, it is even more difficult
to be a second set. You are co-
nstantly reminded of the achie-
vements of your predecessors
which you might be required to
surpass. And, Hillcrest High pio-
neers did indeed leave behind
awe-inspiring landmarks, but the
graduating class 2005 were not
intimidated. Rather, they took the
challenge in their strides and we-
re able to sustain the tempo of
the academic and moral stand-
ards blue-printed by their imm-
ediate fore-bears. At their dep-
arture, we had another winner
of the Presidential Classroom
Scholar Award, the result of an
excellent performance in the
Scholastic Aptitude Test (S.A.T).
This class also brought honours to
the school in friendly football
matches, athletic meets, deb-
ates and the ‘bring it on’ dance

competition. The list is endless. tomorrow.

We had a very charismatic set
of leaders in this class. One of
the greatest achievements of
the prefects is an enduring fra-
me-work of discipline among
students. Parents keep sending
commendations. On the other
hand, teaching them was a pl-
easant experience for us. Their
zeal and tenacity would make
any teacher proud. It is clear
that quite a number of them are
heading towards being great
academicians judging from their
researches, reviews and essays.

Well, it has always been our desire

to groom our students to grow up
and take tomorrow’s world by
storm. We can only do so much
and hope that the Graduating
Class 2005 will take their lives in
their own hands to live this vision.
Academic exercises are replete
with pains, yet, the gains always
justify the pains. As a reminder, this
yearbook means that today is the
tomorrow our beloved students
were looking forward to yesterday
and tomorrow never ends! Thus
as they scatter all over the world,
like the proverbial mustard seed,
we too are waiting for the good
news by the grace of God
