1. BACKGROUND:
The Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) is a world class, responsible mining business in the Democratic Republic
of Congo. KCC is in Kolwezi, in the province of Lualaba.
Through the scale and nature of the business, KCC makes a significant and positive contribution to our local
communities, the province, country, and broader society. Positive impacts range from production of raw
materials that drive social progress, to the payment of taxes and royalties to the DRC government, provision of
employment and business opportunities.

KCC’s Concentrator department (KTC) would like to repair the corroded and leaking floatation cells in the
floatation section of the plant and KCC is seeking the services of a specialised Fabrication Contractor to help
achieve its objective.
The vendor will focus on the supply of all labour requirements, tools, and project materials to ensure a
successful completion of the project, Installations, and commissioning of the project.
The scope of work for the KTC WEMCO Floatation Machines & Launders Repairs and
Corrosion Protection Project at KCC’s concentrator department includes but not limited to the
following: all planning, execution, and implementation. The following scope summary must be
completed by the contractor:

3. OBLIGATIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Company general and other required inductions for all contractors’ personnel
• Company specific Permit to Work holders training for Contractor’s site supervisor.
• Company specific Permit to Work awareness training for Contractor’s personnel.
• Provide lifting requirements such as cranage, forklift.
• Supervise and oversee the project.
• Supply the Agitator drive replacement components.
• Contractor to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job to their employees.
• Contractor to provide all specialised application equipment.
• All plant, equipment and working tools required to perform the overall works within the stated period.
• Contractor to supply their own sandblasting equipment, mobile compressor for all air requirements,
hoses, screens, and accessories.
• Contractor to supply sandblasting grit.
• All to be in good working order and comply with company standards.
• Construction power reticulation from supplied 400VAC construction power DB.
• Supply own fuel, lubricant, spare parts, consumables and Servicing and maintenance of all plant,
equipment, and tools for the duration of the work.
• Security of plant, equipment, and tools for the duration of the works.
• All general tools and equipment for each employee required to perform all day-to-day tasks for the full
duration of the works. All to be in good working order and comply with company standards. Loss or
damage to tools is the contractor’s responsibility to replace immediately.
• Contractor to supply project materials.
✓ Supply all plates for cells and launders repair.
✓ Supply all steels for piping, support brackets.
✓ Supply all paints and poly lining materials.
✓ Supply all consumables.
• Supply fully qualified and experienced personnel for the duration of the overall works.
• Provide a detailed QAQC Plan and QAQC team for the project.
• Provide all manpower requirements including scaffolders.
• It is important that all workers are onsite ready for daily pre-start/toolbox talks @ 07:00am every
working day.
• Site standard personal protective equipment (PPE) for all its personnel and the equipment (minimum
site standard is hard hat, safety glasses, steel cap boots, long work pants and appropriate highly visible
long sleeve work shirt or hi-vis vest, extinguishers, lights, safety belt, etc.) in accordance with the
company’s standard.
• Participate in daily safety talk and discussions when on site.
• Contractors site supervisor to attend weekly progress meetings for the duration of the overall works.
• Contractors site supervisor to attend daily coordination meetings for the duration of the overall works.
• Provide a risk assessment in conjunction with KCC employees for all planned activities required to
complete the works.
• Submission of a daily and weekly progress report as per company standards at least 24hrs prior to the
weekly progress meeting.
• Upon acceptance & signing of contract, the contractor is responsible for providing a level 4 detailed
program schedule in Microsoft Projects format to the company’s representative within 7 working days
for review & approval. Schedule to outline sequence of the proposed works.
• Supply all Communication means and IT related requirement for contractor’s personnel.
• Copies and records of induction, training, competency, medical, etc. upon request by the Company.
• Performance Guarantee/Warranty
The vendor to give a performance guarantee of 12 months in which case the vendor will take
responsibilities to repair any premature damages and 10% of the project value will be withheld until
the warranty period is served.
General:
The rates and prices contained in the contract price breakdown (bills of quantities / rate schedule) will
be fully inclusive prices for the prescribed services to meet all requirements for the completion of the
works.
All Preliminary and General Items (P&G's) related to, and for the duration of the works, should be
included in the unit rate for each item. This includes all fixed, value or time related costs such as
establishment and dis-establishment of all required plant and equipment, costs related to the operation
of plant and equipment, salaries overheads and insurances, etc. No additional claims in this regard
will be entertained.
• The vendor will complete the works specified in this Scope of Works
• The Contract price will include price for the supply of equipment, transportation of equipment
and special tools to site.
• The complete set of work items included in the contract price breakdown (bills of quantities or
rate structure) are referred to as the measurement set for the contract and are deemed to fully
describe the services required under the contract.
• The contractor will install all new piping network in parallel to the existing ones and do the
tie in at the end during a planned plant shutdown.
Invoicing:
• The invoice must be accompanied by completion certificates and other supporting documents.
• Invoice to be approved in 15 days,
• Invoice to be paid in 30 days NET from date of approval.
As a critical part of this Project, the vendor will be responsible for performing tasks throughout
various stages of this project. The following is a list of these tasks which will result in the successful
completion of this project:
Kick-off:
• Vendor will create and present detailed project plan including schedule, WBS, testing
plan, implementation plan, and transition plan.
• Vendor will present project plan to KTC for review and approval.
Design Phase:
• Contractor to submit the mobilization plan.
• Contractor to submit Method Statement
• Contractor to s QAQC Plan
• Establish and review project specifications and requirements on site.
• Audit all cells by carrying out ultrasonic Thickness testing to determine repair sections.
• Only Repair cells peripherals and launders that are 50 % or below original thickness.
• Develop site repair proposal for review and approval.
• Develop a detailed Gantt Chart in MS Project to cover all project activities with 532
days or less.
• The contractor to workday shift only on 12 hours shifts, Monday to Saturday
• Present written status at weekly meeting
• Corrosion Protection Scope:
The corrosion (Painting) Scope is 19,651.128m2 which constitutes a part of this project
and painting specifications must be adhered to as below. The painting scope comprise
the floatation banks, Agitators, motors, machine guards, tanks, and auxiliary structures.
Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is the key to good performance of any coating system. Various
methods are available to clean surfaces but as a rule “the better the surface preparation, the better
the performance of the coating. “The choice of which method of surface preparation is used will
depend on many factors such as amount of area, accessibility of area, coating to be used, etc.
Cleaning Methods
The following method will be used:
Manual Cleaning of Steel: To a degree of cleanliness of St2 specification in accordance with
ISO 8501-1, thorough hand, and power tool cleaning. When viewed without magnification, the
surface shall be free from visible oil, grease, and dirt and from poorly adhering mill scale, rust,
paint coatings and foreign matter. This method shall be used throughout the painting scope.

Note:
The Contractor should note that He will be held responsible for and shall rectify any coating supplied
that is not capable of the required duty.
Implementation Phase:
1. Mobilization and Demobilization
2. Work Schedule: The contractor to provide 24-hour coverage shift ,06:00 am to 06:00 pm, and 06
pm to 06am, Monday to Saturday
3. The expected turnaround for each unit is 14 days.
4. The contractor to provide two crews.
5. There are 22 floatation banks and 198 launders to be repaired and poly lined.
6. There are 08 conditioning tanks to be repaired and poly lined.
7. There are 04 transfer tanks to be repaired and poly lined.
8. The contractor to complete the painting scope of 19,651.261m2
9. Supply tools and equipment that will ensure a successful completion of the project.
10. Supply skilled manpower as suggested below:
• Qualified and Project Manager
• Qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer, with NDT Level II minimum.
• Qualified and experienced Supervisor(s)
11. DIMA 1 Floatation-WEMCO Floatation Machines and Launders Repairs and Poly lining
5.1 WEMCO Floatation Machine 601 and Launders x 10
• Repair cell peripherals x 14 cells
• Repair and service the existing agitators x 14, including fabrication and replacement of
agitator base plates and drilling new mounting holes, installation, painting and
commissioning. Agitator components to be supplied by KCC.
• Removal of old rubber from launders and peripherals
• Sandblasting the launders, cell peripherals, agitator frames and auxiliary structures.
• Interior Poly lining of launders to 6mm minimum thickness.
• Replacement of worn-out cell peripherals
• Replace all spray pipes including valves, bends and unions.
• Poly lining of cell peripherals to 6mm minimum thickness.
• Corrosion protection of exterior sections of the launders:
✓ Exterior section of Cells bank -Painting 54m2
✓ Painting Launders- 150m2effective surface area
✓ Apply a three (3) Coat System
• Change partition Plates gaskets.
• Commissioning

5.2 WEMCO Floatation Machine 602 and Launders x 10
• Repair cell peripherals x 14 cells
• Repair and service the existing agitators x 14, including fabrication and replacement of
agitator base plates and drilling new mounting holes, installation, painting and
commissioning. Agitator components to be supplied by KCC.
• Removal of old rubber from launders and peripherals
• Sandblasting the launders, cell peripherals, agitator frames and auxiliary structures.
• Interior Poly lining of launders to 6mm minimum thickness.
• Replacement of worn-out cell peripherals
• Replace all spray pipes including valves, bends and unions.
• Poly lining of cell peripherals to 6mm minimum thickness.

12. DIMA 2 Floatation-WEMCO Floatation Machines and Launders Repairs and Poly Lining
6.1 WEMCO Floatation Machine 801 and Launders x 10
• Repair cell peripherals x 14 cells
• Repair and service the existing agitators x 14, including fabrication and replacement of
agitator base plates and drilling new mounting holes, installation, painting and
commissioning. Agitator components to be supplied by KCC.
• Removal of old rubber from launders and peripherals
• Sandblasting the launders, cell peripherals, agitator frames and auxiliary structures.
• Interior Poly lining of launders to 6mm minimum thickness.

13. Kamoto Floatation 1-Wemco Floatation Machines and Launders Repairs and Poly Lining

• Repair cell peripherals x 10 cells
• Repair and service the existing agitators x 10, including fabrication and replacement of
agitator base plates and drilling new mounting holes, installation, painting and
commissioning. Agitator components to be supplied by KCC.
• Removal of old rubber from launders and peripherals
• Sandblasting the launders, cell peripherals, agitator frames and auxiliary structures.
14. Kamoto Floatation 2 – WEMCO Cells and Launders Repairs and Poly Lining
8.1 WEMCO Floatation Machine 301 and Launders x 8
• Repair cell peripherals x 14 cells
• Repair and service the existing agitators x 14, including fabrication and replacement of
agitator base plates and drilling new mounting holes, installation, painting and
commissioning. Agitator components to be supplied by KCC.
• Removal of old rubber from launders and peripherals
• Sandblasting the launders, cell peripherals, agitator frames and auxiliary structures.
• Interior Poly lining of launders to 6mm minimum thickness.
• Replacement of worn-out cell peripherals
• Replace all spray pipes including valves, bends and unions.
• Poly lining of cell peripherals to 6mm minimum thickness.

Project Handoff/Closure:
• Contractor will provide KCC -KTC with all documentation in accordance with the approved
project plan.
• Contractor will present project closure report to KCC-KTC for review and approval.
• Contractor will complete the project requirements checklist showing that all project tasks have
been completed.
• Present written project report
The following are the minimum standard requirements for entry to KTC for all contractors
and shall be adhered to by the contractor failure of which no contractor will be allowed on
site:
