III. Learning Task

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT'S ACTIVITY

A. Preparation
a. Prayer
(The teacher will instruct the student
to lead the prayer)

“Before we proceed to our lesson,

may I call someone to lead the
prayer?”

“Student A can please lead the

prayer"
In the name of the father, the son, the
holy, spirit… Amen
b. Greetings
(The teacher will check the
cleanliness of the surroundings)

“Magandang buhay!”
“Mabuting tao!”

Before we continue let’s have an

energizer. Let’s play. Would you
rather.

The student will be given 10 seconds

to choose 2 options. Within 30
seconds they need to do the (The Students are playing Would
matching activity from the option you rather)
they choose.

After the energizer, the students will

be instructed to arrange their arm
chairs properly, pick up the pieces of (Students are arranging their chair
papers around them and they may properly)
now take their seats.

c. Checking Attendance

“Class monitory is there any absent

in class? (Student answer may vary)
“Sir, no one is absent for today”

"Wow! No one is absent today.

Great!”

d. Review
Greeting to all! Welcome to another
day of exploration on physics.
Today we will take a closer look on
how far an object from the point of
reference and describing its direction
related to the point of reference. But
before that let us recall our past
lesson.

“What topic did we discuss

yesterday?”
“Our topic yesterday is all about
motion.”
“Okay, very good. To be specific
about point of reference.”
“What is point of reference?”
“Is something that is stationary/
fixed. You can determine whether an
object moves by comparing its
position to that of a fixed point.”
“ Very Good”

“Magnificent work! You recalled our past

lesson. So, to start with today's lesson we
are going to play a game.”

B. Motivation

To start the activity, the student will be

instructed to arrange the jumbled letters
with clue to form a word.

“Did you know the game jumbled letters?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Okay Good. All you need to do is to

arrange the jumbled letters to form the
correct word by using the clues provided to
answer the activity.”

“Okay Let’s Start”

Answers:

EDCINSAT
Clue: refers to the length of the entire path
that the object travelled.
“Yes, Student A” “DISTANCE”

“Very Good! Correct!”

How about this word?

TDNIESMPELCA
Clue: the shortest distance between the
objects two positions from its point of
origin to its point of destination.
“Yes, Student B” “DISPLACEMENT”

“Good Job! Correct!”

Another word.
NMOOIT
Clue: The change in position over an
interval of time.
“Yes, Student C” “MOTION”

“Correct!”

How about this?

PESED
Clue: Refers to the rate of change in
distance
“Yes, Student D” “SPEED”

“Very Good! Correct!”

Another word.
LECOVITY
Clue: Refers to the rate of change in
displacement. Also known as speed with
direction.
“Yes, Student E” “VELOCITY”

“Nice Job! Correct”

C. Lesson Proper

“What would you think our lesson for today

base on what you have just answer?” “Our topic for today is all about
describing”

“Very, Good!”

“What is motion?”

“Student A, will you please read what is

Motion?” “Motion is described as a change in
position for a particular interval”

“It is described how far an object has

changed in position from a reference
point.”

“Okay, thank you student G.”

“Motion is the change of position of an

object from its original position to its new
position or point of reference”
“So what is point of reference?”
“Student B, please read.” “Reference point is something that is
stationary/ fixed. You can determine
whether an object moves by
comparing its position to that of a
fixed point”

“Thank you student T”

“In simple words it is the starting point of

the moving object and if the object reaches
its final destination you can get the distance
and displacement.”

“So what is Distance, anyone please read?”

“Student C, please read” “Distance is the total length covered
by the moving objects path from
starting point to its end point.”

“Distance is a scalar quantity with only

need magnitude that means the direction of
the object does not consider.”

“These are the examples of scalar

quantities: distance, speed and time.”

“And to get the total distance, the formula is

d1+d2+d3=dT.”

Example. What is the distance traveled by

the dog?
“Yes, Student H” Given:
d1=10m d2= 5m d3= 10m
dT=?
Formula: d1+d2+d3=dT
Distace = 10m+5m+10m = 25meters
Distance = 25m

“Correct! Very Good!”

“What about this one. What is the distance
of Lucinda when she walked 400m from her
house to school? Given:
d1=400 m dT=?
Formula: d1+d2+d3=dT
Distace = 400 m
Distance = 400 m

“Correct the distance that Lucinda traveled

is 400 m.”

“And now let’s proceed to the displacement,

So what is displacement.”

“Student D please read.” “Displacement is a vector quantity

(magnitude and direction) refers to
the shortest distance between the
objects two positions, like the
distance between its point of origin
and its point of destination. It is
indicated by direction.”

“In this case displacement is a vector

quantity means needs both magnitude and
direction.”

So how are we going to get the

displacement?
“Please read, Student I” “The formula is Final position -
initial position = Displacement.”

“Okay! Let’s use the formula in a problem”

“Example. We can see the initial position of

the dog and the final position of the dog.”

“Since displacement refers to the shortest

distance between the point of origin (point
of reference) and the point of destination, if
we apply it on this figure.”

“Yes, Student H. what is the displacement

of the dog? “The dog has travelled 5 meters to
the south.”

“Always remember don’t forget to indicate

the direction of the object” “Yes, Sir”

“Okay, Good”

“Here are more illustrations showing the

difference between distance travelled
(represented by broken lines) by an object
and its displacement (represented by
continuous lines).”

D. Generalization

“Any questions?” “None, Sir”

“Are you sure?” “Yes, Sir”

“Okay, since all of you understand or lesson

I will ask some question.”

“For summarization: What is distance?” “Distance refers to the length of the

entire path that the object travelled.”

HOTS-SOLO TAXONOM- Unistactural “Sir to get the distance you needs to

“How do we get the distance?” sum up the distance that an object
“Yes, Student E” traveled.”

“Very Good!”

HOTS-SOLO TAXONOM- Unistactural

“How about the displacement. What is
displacement?” “Displacement refers to the shortest
“Yes, Student F” distance between the object’s two
positions of an object.
“Well said!”

“How do we get displacement?

“Yes Student M!” “Sir to get the displacement you
needs to subtract the initial position
into final position.”

“Very Good!”
“Is there any question or clarification about
our topic?” “None, Sir”

“Okay, Very Good”

E. Application

For your activity answer this following

question on your notebook. Answer”
1.
1 Given:
d1=400 m d2= 200 m dT=?
Formula: d1+d2=dT
Distace = 400 m + 200 m= 600m
Distance = 600 m

Given:
Initial position = 400 m West
Final Position = 200m East
Formula: final position - initial
position = Displacement
Displacement= 400m West – 200m
East = 200 m East
Displacement = 200 m East

2.
d1=750 m d2= 1500 m dT=?
Formula: d1+d2=dT
Distace = 750 m + 1500 m= 2250m
Distance = 2250 m

Given:
Initial position = 750 m East
Final Position = 1500 m West
Formula: final position - initial
position = Displacement
Displacement= 1500 m West – 750 m
East East = 750 m West
Displacement = 750 m West
