The idea from this experiment:

In this experiment we will measure
the density of solid and liquid
materials, water will be liquid and
stone will be solid material
The Tools and materials
Pycnometer ,Beaker,Weighing
machine
Firstly:The water
1. By the weighing machine We
measure the mass of the
Ppycnometer when it's empty
m1=58 g.
2. We measure the mass of the
Ppycnometer after we fill it with
water ,m2 = 91 g , to calculate the
mass of water

M water = m2-m1
=91-58
=33g .
3. We measure the volume of
the water By the beaker ,V=50ml
4. The density of water is:
ρ= m/v
=33/50 =0.66g/ml

Now we measure the density of

solid material (stone)
1. We weigh the stone on
the weighing machine
,m=33.5
2. We measure the volume
of the water by the beaker ,
V1=40 ml
3. We put the stone in the
beaker to get second volume,
V2=57 ml
4. To know the volume of
stone : ΔV=V2-V1
=57-40
=17 ml
ρ=v/m
=57/17=3.35 g/ml
Now let's take another stone

m=27g
V1= 40ml
V2= 51ml
ΔV= V2-V1
= 51_40
=11ml

ρ=v/m
=27/11=2.45 =2.5 g/ml
Calculations:
Material m V ρ
Water 33 g 50 ml 0.66
g/ml
Stone 33.5 g 17 ml 3.35
g/ml
27 g 11 ml 2.5
g/ml

Discussion
By the law ρ =v/m the density of a substance
is directly proportional to its mass and
inversely proportional to its volume

To know the weight of the water ,we measure

the we measure the weight of the of
Pycnometer when it's empty and when it's fully
by water, then by Δm we find the weight of
water
For the volume of the stone we measure it by
the change of the volume of the displaced
water (according the law of Pascal's law)
