These definitions may have been used in technical definitions and

may also be used in writing operational definitions in research.
What are technical and operational definitions?

1. Technical Definition - refers to the definition of a word as

used in a particular field like Science, Law, or Engineering.
e.g. Computer is an electronic device for storing and
processing data, typically in binary form, according to
instructions given to it in a variable program (Oxford
Dictionaries, n.d.).

2. Operational Definition- is the application of the

word/term. These may include the various attempts to
define or explain a certain process and its properties
including but not limited to the characterization of the event
itself.
e.g. Computer is a device that helps learners connect with
their teachers in the learning management system (LMS).

Learners should keep in mind that technical definition comes from

dictionaries and that they are the main formal definition of the
terms in their respective fields. However, operational definition
may give a whole new meaning to the terms as to how they are
used in the study.

In Chapter I, the terms should be defined both technically and

operationally. Technical definitions may also be called conceptual
definitions.

Individual Activity: I am Technical!
