BARANGAY ORDINANCE No. 01

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING EVERY JANUARY 27, 2024 AS "BARANGAY CLEAN-UP


DAY") IN COMPLIANCE WITH DILG MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2023-133 DATED
SEPTEMBER 06, 2023; BARANGAY AT KALINISAN DAY (Barkada)

WHEREAS, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued
Memorandum Circular No. 2023-133 on September 06, 2023, encouraging barangays to conduct
activities that promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and community unity;

WHEREAS, the Barangay recognizes the importance of fostering cleanliness, environmental


consciousness, and community engagement among its residents;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, as it is hereby ordained, by the Sangguniang


Barangay Union in a regular session assembled, that:

Section 1: Title This Ordinance shall be known as the "Barangay Clean-Up Day"
Ordinance.

Section 2: Declaration of "Barangay Clean-Up Day"


The Barangay hereby declares every Saturday was a "Barangay Clean-Up Day" in adherence to DILG
Memorandum Circular No. 2023-133.

Section 3: Rescheduling of Clean-Up Day


In case a declared Barangay Clean-Up Day falls under a regular holiday or a special non-working
holiday, the Barangay may opt to reschedule the clean-up drive on any other day of the week of their
regular schedule.

Section 4: Identification of Clean-Up Sites


The Barangay, through its Barangay Ecological Solid Waste Management Committee (BESWMC),
shall identify regular clean-up sites within their jurisdiction including waterways/creeks, public parks,
streets/roads, vacant lots, and other public spaces within the barangay.
Section 5: Clean-Up Activities
The Barangay, in compliance with DILG MC No. 2023-133, shall undertake the following clean-up
activities during the scheduled Barangay Clean-Up Day:
- Dredging of clogged canals, esteros, and other waterways
- Pruning of thick bushes or tree branches
- Draining of receptacles containing stagnant waters
- Dismantling all possible breeding places for mosquitoes
- Community gardening
-Information drive on solid waste management, dengue prevention, and community gardening

Section 6: Participation of Residents


All residents are encouraged to actively participate in the "Barangay Clean-Up Day" activities to foster
a sense of shared responsibility for a clean and environmentally sustainable community.

Section 7: Effectivity
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
