SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 3 A: Arrangement of the periodic table of element according to atomic mass, atomic number
period and Family (20pts)

1. VISUALIZING CONCEPTS
Planet Threa is about to invade Earth. The only way to stop the invasion is to decode the secret slogan written in their
periodic table of elements. Their periodic table is organized very much like ours. The only difference is each shell can hold a
maximum of five electrons. The family number tells us the number of electrons in the outermost shell. Help decode the slogan by
filling in the table with the correct element into their corresponding places. Assume that the number of protons = number of
electrons = number of neutrons.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 4: experiment and life hack on salt water (application of water cycle)

Materials:
large bowl/ small basin
mug or small cup
transparent plastic wrap
string or large rubber band
water
Salt
Pebble
Procedure:
- Mix water with salt in the large bowl to have salt water. The volume should be about
2/3 .
- Put the EMPTY mug of cup at the center of the bowl.
- Cover the bowl with a trasparent wrap and either tie it with string or place a large
rubber band around it to secure the plastic wrap.
- Put a small rock on top of the plastic wrap (to focus water falling from the wrap to
the cup)
- Place it outside in a sunny area for a few hours.

For plan B they may use a stove, and kettle boil the water and collect the steam. ^_^
