Customs Leader (E4)

Job Description Summary This role involves managing all aspects of import and export
activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing logistics, and maintaining accurate
documentation. This person will collaborate with various internal departments and external
stakeholders to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, and uphold GE's commitment to
compliance, quality and efficiency. Responsibilities include all processes and procedures related
to the movement and shipment of GE goods across borders. Job Description

Roles And Responsibilities

• Manage import and export operations, including documentation, customs clearance,


and transportation arrangements.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other relevant
parties to ensure timely delivery and shipment of goods.
• Monitor shipment schedules and track the movement of goods to ensure on-time
delivery and minimize delays.
• Stay updated on import and export regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure
compliance with local and international laws.
• Maintain accurate records of all import and export activities, including shipping
documents, customs forms, and compliance records.
• Develops and maintains procedures and working instructions relevant to the
import/export process.
• Ensure all documentation is complete, organized, and easily accessible for audits and
inspections.
• Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement,
and cost-saving measures.
• Coordinate with internal departments to forecast demand and plan shipments
accordingly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to streamline
import and export processes.
• Provides direction, counsel, creates and executes on customs strategy affecting
customs transactions on behalf of GE businesses.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to coordinate import and export activities.
• Communicate effectively with external partners, such as customs, shipping companies,
and suppliers, to resolve issues and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address logistical challenges, resolve
discrepancies, and implement best practices..
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, international trade, or a


related field.
• Proven experience in import and export operations.
• Strong understanding of Mexican customs regulations, trade compliance, and
international shipping practices.
• Proficiency in using import/export software, systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent Spanish and English communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.

Desired Characteristics

• Experience implementing projects applying lean manufacturing methodology.


• Lean manufacturing applicable certifications.
• Established project management skills.
