Abortion

We agree that abortion should be illegal.

Three Points:
➢ People should be responsible about their sexual life.
➢ Abortion promotes a culture in which life is disposable.
➢ Life begins at conception, making abortion murder.

Introduction (Paragraph 1) - Dante

“Abortion isn't a lesser evil, it's a crime. Taking one life to save
another, that's what the Mafia does.” This is a quote said by Pope
Francis. We wholeheartedly agree with this quote because babies
are a blessing from God. Today, our group will be presenting on
abortion, but, before we go into that, what is abortion? Abortion is
the expulsion of an unwanted fetus. Many persons agree to
abortion, others disagree, however, abortion has always been an
issue at the ballot box and it defines which political party usually has
control. Our group strongly agrees that abortion is wrong because it
is murder which will be done by Joshua, it promotes a culture that
life is disposable which will be done by Raje and people should be
responsible for their sexual lives which Daktari will speak about.
Tajaun will sum up everything.
First Point (Paragraph 2) - Joshua
Firstly, abortion is wrong because it is murder. Life begins at
conception and to take someone’s life prematurely is murder.
Using abortion as a quick way to get rid of an unwanted child does
not justify the fact that you are still committing murder. Even though
they are the ones that brought the child into this world, a parent
does not have the authority to take their child’s life. How would you
feel knowing that there were plans for you to be aborted? Therefore,
abortion should not be accepted because it is murder.

Second Point (Paragraph 3) - Raje

Secondly, abortion is wrong because it promotes a culture in which
life is disposable. “A woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy
also deserves to experience unplanned joy.” This was said by
Patricia Heaton. It speaks to the way how a difficult situation can
lead to a beautiful blessing. However, not all unplanned pregnancies
are like this. A lot of women, out of the fear of having a child, due to
an unplanned pregnancy decide to get rid of the child by the
easiest way possible. Unfortunately, this creates a culture where a
child is disposable. As ProCon.org puts it, the error is thinking that
when someone stands in the way of our wants, we can justify getting
that person out of our lives. Which alludes to what Joshua said in
the first point. If abortion becomes acceptable, a culture will be
created where people just do what they want with another’s life.
Therefore, abortion is wrong because it promotes a culture in which
life is disposable.
Third Point (Paragraph 4) - Daktari
Finally, abortion is wrong because people should be responsible
about their sexual life. According to the World Health Organization
(W.H.O.), about 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide
each year. Six out of 10 (61%) are of a result of unintended
pregnancies. What does this say to us? It says that more and more
people around the world use sex as a means of pleasure. If we go
to the Bible, 1 Corinthians 7:5 says not to deprive each other except
by mutual consent and for a time of devoting yourself to prayer. This
means that that sex should not be used as a weapon to get your
way as it is a gift from God. As Raje alluded to, if abortion becomes
acceptable, a culture will be created where people just do what they
want with another’s life. If one plans to have sexual intercourse, then
one should be aware of the responsibilities that comes after that
and not look for the easy way out. Therefore, abortion is wrong
because people should be responsible about their sexual life.

Conclusion (Paragraph 5) - Tajaun

In conclusion, abortion has been an issue on the table for many
years and it has been a contributing factor in how and why people
vote. Abortion is the premature ending of a fetus’s life and taking a
life to save another is not justifiable. Therefore, abortion is wrong
because it is murder, it promotes a culture that life is disposable and
people should be responsible for their sexual lives. Thank You!
