Technology, in more ways than one, has greatly impacted and changed how not only

learners, but as well as the educators in the modern world. We are now living in an age where
technology has become a part of most people for the majority of their lives, especially the youth.
So, as a learner who have been through a time when technology wasn’t dominant in any setting, I
will share about how technology has influenced the way I engage in academics and how I plan to
use it as an educator.

Back in my elementary days, the normal classroom setting is completely different from
how it is compared to today’s. Instead of our teachers having PowerPoint presentations presented
on the TV, they wrote their own visual aids on Cartolina or Manila Paper for their students to
read and take notes from. However, today, most institutions have invested in having TVs
installed in each of the classrooms for teachers to utilize during their lectures or in presenting
their lessons. In addition, our reading materials back then were done by taking notes from what
the teachers had written on their visual aids. But now, teachers can send a file, such as a PDF,
docs, and/or PPTS, of their topic or lesson to a group chat, uploading it on a virtual classroom, or
on an online platform, where students can access it anytime to take down notes or even do an
advanced reading. When I have to do projects given to us by teacher, I'm now able choose which
online platform I will use in completing tasks such as Canva, Microsoft Word or Google Docs,
for my convenience in doing the project. But back then, before I had access to technology, I had
to do my projects by hand and on paper which led up to having more time consumed in doing the
project, or sometimes even result to unwanted outputs. As an educator, I will utilize technology
to its fullest, most especially for the convenience of the learners since this generation is exposed
to these innovations. I will make sure to keep up with the new norms and be updated so that I as
a teacher will be able to produce technology literate individuals which are really important
nowadays. I will make my lessons more accessible and creative by using relatable presentations
or PowerPoints, disseminate tasks, announcement and instructions in social media platforms like
Facebook and Messenger. I'll use technology to assess their knowledge through the use of
different assessing tools/app like Google Forms and Classroom.

To conclude, I have been able to live through both times when technology wasn’t around
and is present on almost all settings, and I can say I prefer to learn and be educated with the use
of technology since of its convenience and advantages. With my experience as a learner who has
been exposed to technology, I will surely incorporate the advantages that technology has given
us to aid me when it is my turn to teach learners of the future generation. Not only that, but
learners will surely also be more active and participative in the classroom with the use of new
approaches to delivering lectures rather than the traditional practice we are used to.
