I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 60-minute class discussion, 80% of the students are
expected to:
a.) read The Parable of the Rainbow Colors by Juan M. Flavier;
b.) acknowledge individual differences make the world a brighter place to
love in; and
c.) perform an improvised “In the Hot Seat” activity in answering the
discussion questions.

A. Preliminary
The following preliminary activities will be observed:

Unlocking of Difficulty
The students will match the words in Column A that corresponds to the
definitions in Column B. The students will use the given sentences as
their hint to find the correct meaning of the words.

Silent Reading
When the students have finally matched the words with its meaning,
the students will proceed with silent reading, they will be given 10
minutes to read the parable by Juan M. Flavier, The Parable of the
Rainbow. When the allotted time is consumed, the class will proceed
with the student activity.
Student Activity
The students will do an improvised In the Hot Seat activity. They will
form one, big circle inside the classroom. Using a ball (or anything that
students can grasp easily), the students will pass the ball to a specified
direction when the music is playing. When the music stops, the student
who is holding the ball will answer the following questions:
1. If you were one of the colors, what would you be? Why?
2. What is the change that happened in each of the colors? How?
3. How is this change relevant to the existence of each of the colors?
4. Why do you think rain emphasized the need for cooperation?
5. What do you feel when you see a rainbow?
6. Why does a rainbow represent hope?
7. How will you encourage others to cooperate in societal activitites?
E. Values Integration
No two persons are alike. Even in the case of identical twins, there will
always be a striking feature that separates one from another. Though
we may be different and unique in some ways, these characteristics
should never be used to belittle others and make fun of them. Instead,
we must use these differences to make something good not only for
the community but for the whole world as well.
A. Generalization
In order to generalize the learning ideas for the day, the students will
completely the following statement: “Today, I learned that …”
IV. EVALUATION
On a ½ crosswise paper, the students will identify three inevitable changes
in their life. They will explain how these changes overcome the demands
of life.
V. AGREEMENT
On Thursday, the students will do a differentiated activity. The students will
be grouped into 5 groups. The following groups are assigned with specific
task, found on their LM pages 465-468.
