This is an advanced applied senior level course in chemical engineering. It will cover the
following:
• Introduction and classes of material
• Physical and Chemical properties
• Production/fabrication processes
• The Concept of Reinforcement
• Definition and importance of Matrix (Polymer, Metal, Ceramic)
• Mechanical, Chemical and Physical bonding
• Tests and Measurements of Interfacial bonding strength
• Surface roughness and Crystallography
• Carbon Fiber/Carbon Matrix Composites
• Applications of these materials in vital sectors: Military Auto industry Chemical industry Aerospace Oil industry and
Infra Structure.

• This course aims to provide students with knowledge of the governing principles of
composites characterization, performances and other technical aspects of practical
importance for practicing engineers and scientists.
• The course will also discuss and appraise the recent advances in composite materials,
constituent materials of composites, and composite manufacturing processes and perform
analyses of the properties of composite materials;
