Definition:

The Microsoft PowerPoint is a complete


presentation graphics program allows the user
to produce professional – looking presentation.
The Power Point presentation is also called
slide show.

• To make the presentation more interested, the


user can add tables, charts, pictures, videos,
sounds and animation effects.

•Additional features for the PowerPoint
program are:
i) Word processing.
ii) Outlining.
iii)Charting.
iv)Drawing shapes such as; arcs, arrows, cubes,
rectangles, stars and triangles.
v) Inserting multimedia.

Definition:

• The basic unit of the PowerPoint presentation is a


slide. A slide contains one or more objects, such as;
title, text, graphics, tables, charts and drawings.

• The building unit of the PowerPoint slide is an


object.

• The PowerPoint presentation assumes the first slide


is the title slide, as shown in figure (3 – 4 – 1), its
purpose is to introduce the presentation to the
audience.

• To start a new PowerPoint presentation:


To begin a new presentation quickly, click the
Power Point icon on the desktop as shown in
figure (3 – 4 – 2)

If the PowerPoint icon is not present on the


desktop; click start button, point to the
Microsoft PowerPoint and click it.

If the PowerPoint icon is not present on the desktop;


click start button, point to the Microsoft PowerPoint
and click it.

PowerPoint displays the title auto layout and the


default design on slide 1 as shown in figure (3 – 4 – 1).

Choose a design template:
A design template provides consistency in design
and colour throughout the entire presentation. It
determines the colour scheme, font and font size,
layout of the presentation.
To choose a design template perform the following steps:
i) Click the design in the menu bar.
ii) Choose the desired template and click the selected
template as shown in figure (3 – 4 – 3).

Entering presentation title:


The first slide in any presentation is the title slide. This
slide is divided into two place holders; the first for the
title and the second for the subtitle. Click inside the first
area and type the title of the presentation, then; click
inside the second area and type the subtitle as shown in
figure (3 – 4 – 4).

To add a new slide to your presentation:


Double click the "new slide" button on the toolbar, a new
slide window box is displayed, select the slide you want
and click on it as shown in figure (3 – 4 – 5).

To make animation during your presentation:
Click the animation on the menu bar, a new slide animation
window box is displayed, select the animation you want
and click on it as shown in figure (3 – 4 – 6).
