INTRODUCTION

Exponential and logarithmic functions are important

concepts in mathematics. These functions involve
the use of exponents and logarithms to model
various real-life situations. Exponential functions
have the form f(x)=a^x, where a is a constant and x
is the variable. These functions exhibit rapid growth
or decay, depending on the value of a. On the other
hand, logarithmic functions are the inverse of
exponential functions and have the form
f(x)=log_a(x), where a is a constant. Logarithmic
functions help us solve equations involving
exponential growth or decay and also find the
unknown exponent in an exponential equation.
Understanding these functions is crucial in fields
such as finance, biology, and physics. In this
introduction, we will explore the properties, graphs,
and applications of exponential and logarithmic
functions.
DEVELOPMENT
The exponential function is the set of values
where for each value that we give to “x”, the
value of “y” will be equal to the constant raised
to “x”.
TYPES OF EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION
The exponential function has two special
cases:
1. When a > 1
2. When 0 < a < 1
 When a > 1
The graph of the function will be
increasing throughout its domain
 When a < 1
The graph of the function will be
decreasing throughout its domain

The logarithmic function is the set of

values where for each value that we give
to “x”, the value of “y” is equal to a number,
which fulfills that ay = x. That is to say: “y”
is the exponent that we are looking for to
raise the base and give us “x”.

TYPES OF LOGARITHMIC FUNCTIONS

In the same way as exponential functions,

there are also two types of functions in
logarithmic functions:

1. When “a” > 1

2. When 0 < a < 1
 When a > 1
The graph of the function will also
be increasing throughout its domain
in the same way as the exponential
function.
 When a < 1
The graph of the function will also
be decreasing throughout its
domain in the same way as the
exponential function.
