Skilled Person
A skilled person must have relevant education and experience to enable him or her
to identify hazards, analyse risks, and avoid hazards which electricity, machinery,
chemicals, other energies, and supply systems on this equipment can create.
Skilled persons must meet local regulations, such as certifications and qualifications
for working with these energies and systems.
Instructed Person
An instructed person must be adequately advised or supervised by a skilled person.
The skilled person enables the instructed person to identify hazards, analyse risks,
and avoid hazards which electricity, machinery, chemicals, other energies, and
supply systems on this equipment can create.

Intended Use of the Equipment
The level control relay (RM22LA32MR) monitors the liquid level by measuring the
change in resistance of immersed and non-immersed electrodes. The relay
sensitivity must be set according to the conductivity of the liquid.
All other use is prohibited. Tetra Pak® will not be held responsible for injury or
damage if the equipment is used for any other purpose.

Hazardous voltage and moving machinery.
The main power switch (1) must be turned off and secured with a padlock (2) before
any maintenance.
Note! The key to the padlock (2) must be removed by the technician and retained
in his/her possession until all work is completed.
Certain maintenance procedures may require power supply systems to be on.
These exceptions are clearly stated in the Maintenance Manual.
The illustrations show the main power switch (1) and its location.

Will shock, burn, or cause death.
After the electrical supply disconnecting device is turned off, residual voltage
remains in the capacitor circuits. Wait five minutes before opening the enclosure
containing these circuits. Ensure that no residual voltage remains on the capacitors
before touching them.

1 Functional Description 1.1 Level Control Relay - Description
1.1 Level Control Relay - Description

The intended use of this Tetra Pak® rebuilding kit is to replace the level control relay
(RM22LA32MR) on the listed Filling Machines.
All other use is prohibited. Tetra Pak® will not be held responsible for injury or
damage if the rebuilding kit is used for any other purpose.
The level control relay (RM22LA32MR) monitors the liquid level by measuring the
change in the resistance of immersed and non immersed electrodes. The relay
sensitivity must be set according to the conductivity of the liquid. On this relay, the
green LEDs (1) are lit when the relay is in power ON condition. The yellow LED (2)
lights when the correct level is reached.
Note! If the green LED dial pointers are blinking, the electrical supply must be
turned OFF and ON.

The level control relay is designed for clip-on rail mounting.
a) Locate the old level control relay to be exchanged.

b) Remove the old level control relay from the rail.

c) Attach the new level control relay to the rail.
d) Connect the new level control relay. New connection cables are required. For
connections, see Section 1.2 Level Control Relay - Terminal Connections.
e) Mark the new level control relay with reference designation label.
f) In your current EM, use a red permanent pen to cross out the old connections,
and clearly mark the connections "No longer valid".
g) In your current EM, clearly write the designations of the new connections.
