Instructions:
1. This paper consists of seven (7) questions.

2. Answer any five (5) questions. Question one (1) is compulsory.

3. Each question carries twenty (20) marks.

4. Cellular phones and any unauthorized materials are not allowed in the examination room.

5. Write your Examination Number on every page of your answer booklet(s).


1. “Since science, technology and development are interrelated with farming activities. Where as
technology is the result of science, which provides ways of making tools that are used for
development purposes.” In six (6) points, justify this notion in relation to the contribution of
science and technology on the development of agriculture in Tanzania.

2. “A socio-economic problem is any condition or behaviour that has a detrimental effect on many
people. It is generally recognised as a condition or behaviour that needs to be addressed”.
Indeed, personal and interpersonal skills have been included as amongst the way forward to
address this problem. Validate the statement by giving six (6) points.

3. “Community members can help their loved ones abstain from drug abuse. Despite seeing a
loved one suffer, community members can and should ideally play a significant role in the
treatment process”. Explain how the community and individuals can play in rehabilitating drug
addicts. (Give six (6) points).

4. “It is indicated that religion is a phenomenon that is characterised by number of features”.


Verify this statement by using six (6) points.

5. “In a democratic society, power abuse can cause political unrest. This may happen when the
government misuses its position and takes unfair advantage over individuals and organisations or
when a leader acts in a manner that manipulates an area of control for personal gain at the
expense of followers”. Propose six possible measures to prevent abuse of power in a democratic
society.

6. “The two countries can agree to cooperate in various spheres, for example the economic, social,
cultural, science and technology, politics, security and defence spheres”. Currently, how
Tanzania is being benefited under such relationship? Give six (6) points

7. Suppose you are the member of East African Parliament. Explain to the Parliament the different
measures that could be taken by the member states and the Community Secretariat to address
challenges facing them. Give six (6) points
