Assignment No.3

Question: The concepts presented in Truss analysis using stiffness method will be extended and
applied to the analysis of the BEAMS.

a-) Derive the global member stiffness matrix for Beams. Show your steps for the application of the
Stiffness method for Beam analysis.

b-) Solve at least 2 problems with your own notation.

• Show your steps clearly by preparing slides using powerpoint. You must complete and submit your documents via
UZEBIM until 21ST of November, at 09:00 am at the latest.
• Please be sure that you submitted your homework on time which is your responsibility. The system will shut down
at 09:00 am.
• Students are strongly recommended to submit their homework. There will be no make-up homework.

• CIV581 students may work individually.

• You will be assigned to give your presentation in class on the due date. The presentations will be scheduled during
the lectures.

• You will have maximum 15 minutes for the talk, with time fairly strictly enforced.

• Make sure the title of your assignment follows this format “CIV581_HW3_Your Student number”.
