These training sessions helped to

further develop my teaching skills in a variety of topics and make me a better educator.

Faculty Meetings - January, February, March, April 2024 During these meetings all

teachers met to discuss the standards they would be assessing students on in the

following year and ways to improve curriculum for the school. They also discussed new

online formats and how to assess students using new programs.

Curriculum meetings (Every subject) - January, February, March, April 2024 Every

teacher from grades K-3 meets to discuss standards of subjects, upcoming events, and

how students will be assessed on upcoming or closing units.

Initial CSE Meeting - January 2024 During this meeting the general education teacher,

special education teacher, intervention teachers, school psychologist, and cse

chairperson met with a student’s parent to discuss whether they qualified for special

education. He met the requirements, so they began to discuss what his IEP would look

like and specify logistics of it for the teachers to draft.

Parent Conference - February 2024 During this meeting the special education teacher,

general education teacher, principal, and school psychologist met with a student’s

parents to discuss matters of their elevated behavior from recent weeks. They took
suggestions from parents, offered support outside of the classroom, and made a plan to

follow the upcoming weeks to see if things would turn around.

Professional Development Day - March 2024 This day included a violence in the

workplace training that is now being required of New York State schools. There were

also curriculum meetings held throughout the day that allowed for teachers in the same

grade and cluster to work together and plan for the upcoming months and assessments.

The day was completed with staff bonding activities from staff at both the elementary

and high school.

Annual IEP Meeting - April 2024 This meeting was attended by the special education

teacher, general education teacher, CSE chairperson, speech teacher, OT teacher, PT

teacher, and parents. It was an annual review of the students' IEP. Modifications were

made on his IEP to reflect what changes have occurred this year. There were also goals

set by all teachers to work for the next school year. They allowed time for parent input

and to see if any additional things had to be added.

RTI Meeting - April 2024 This meeting was attended by the principal, some special

education teachers, some general education teachers, the school social worker, and

psychologist. This was an intervention for an older student with a tough home life that

was having emotional troubles. Many interventions were planned to start as early as the

next day.

Castleton Student Teaching Supervisor Meetings 2024: Over a fourteen-week

period, I collaborated with my supervisor for two or more hours each week on topics

including teaching strategies, unit development, engaging students, levels of questions,

how to organize and present my work, and practicing for interviews.


Castleton Student Teaching Seminar 2024: This seminar has provided discussion on

procedures around child endangerment and mandatory reporting. In addition, we were

given guidance preparing resumes, portfolios, documents, and interview tips.

Castleton Observation-Participation Placements 2022-2023: These two placements

totaled over ninety hours of direct involvement in classrooms in both Vermont and New

York areas. I observed two different professionals that each had their own style of

instruction and communication with students in different grades. I worked with students,

taught lessons, and reflected on my observation notes.
