NAME: Mary Rose Buce, Eleanor Broqueza & Shane Caranza

COURSE/YEAR/BLOCK: BEED 2-A
SUBJECT: Teaching Science in Elem. Grades (Biology and Chemistry)
INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Edward C. Cardiño

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson the learners should be able to:
 The learners demonstrate understanding about volcanoes, volcanic eruption and their effects.
 The learners should be able to appreciate adopting precautionary measures before, during and
after volcanic eruption.
 The learners shall be able to make a volcano model of different types of volcanoes.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. TOPIC: Volcanoes
B. SCIENCE PROCESS: Define

III. PRELIMINARIES
PRAYER:
Let us pray first before we proceed to our lesson for today. Everybody stand up and please
lead a prayer Ronniella. Please sit down.

GREETINGS:
How are you today?
Are you ready to our new lesson?
Great!

CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE:
Do we have an absentee today?

CLASROOM MANAGEMENT:
Before we proceed to our lesson, I have rules you need to follow:
First, listen carefully for you to understand our lesson.
Next, raise your hand if you know the answer and wait to be called on.
Lastly, respect everyone in the class.
Is that all clear class?
IV. LESSON PROPER
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
ELICIT ( 5 mins)

What was the lesson we discussed last meeting? ( Answer may vary)

ENGAGE (5 mins) Answer:

(The teacher will read and show a riddle and
the students will guess answer it.)

VOLCANO

EXPLORE (15 mins)

1. Divide the class into 2 group.

2. Set norms to follow during group activity.

3. Let the pupils perform the activity stated in the

activity sheet.
EXPLAIN (20 mins) Volcano

(The teacher will discuss)

Volcanic Eruption and their Effect

A volcano is a mountain where lava (Hot, Liquid,
Rock) Comes from a magma chamber under the
ground. Most volcanoes have a volcanic Crater
top. When a volcano is active materials come
out of it. The materials include lava, steam,
gaseous, sulfur compounds ash, and broken
rock pieces.

When there is enough pressure it cause the

volcano to erupt the pressure blows off the top
of the volcano. The magma comes out
sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and

Seismology (PHIVOLCS) – is the government
agency that monitor earthquakes and volcanic
activities.

Some precautionary measures to observe

before, during and after volcanic eruptions.

BEFORE:
1. Listen to the radio fro an update on
volcanic activity in your area.
2. Follow the warmings and instructions
issued by concerned government
agencies.
3. Store enough food and safe dringking
water to sustain you in case of great
destruction.
4. Evacuate quickly to safer areas or
designated evacuation centers.

DURING:
1. Wear a mask because volcano eruptions
release harmful chemicals such as ash
and sulfur.
2. Stay inside the evacuation center until it
is safe to go outside.
3. Avoid low places because lava is more
likely to flow there.

AFTER:
1. Wait for further notice or instructions from
authorized government agencies as to
when it is safe to return home.
2. Make the necessary repairs and clean up
of houses hit by ashfall.
