Did you have fun in our activity?

In the songs that you have listened

to, what word is used to compare the
two objects?

And do you know what figure of

speech is using “as” and “like” to
compare two unrelated objects?

 Analysis
“Very nice, do you know any other
figure of speech?”

 Abstraction
“Are you ready to learn?”
What are Figures of Speech?
A figure of speech is a deviation from
the conventional mode of discourse used to
make the idea particularly obvious, strong, or
appealing. It makes the language more
creative, more expressive, and just more
interesting. It is a rhetorical device that
achieves a special effect by using words in a
distinctive way.

A. Simile
A figure of speech in which
two, unlike things, are
compared using the words
like or as.

“Can anyone give me an example

of a simile?”

“Thank you so much, Sara! Let’s

proceed to Metaphor”

B. Metaphor
A suggested examination
made between two
dissimilar to things that
really have something in
normal. Among the most
widely recognized analogies
are those that allude to our
feelings of touch, taste,
sight, hearing and smell.

“ I will give an example of this and

right after me is I will call names to give an
example of metaphor”

“An old flame.”

“So, the one who has held a red

towel will give the example of metaphor”

“Thank you so much, let’s proceed to

the last ”

C. Personification
An interesting expression in which a lifeless
thing or deliberation is enriched with human
characteristics or capacities.

“Who wants to give an example of

personification?”

“Thank you so much and what are the three

types of figures of speech?”

“So, we have 30 minutes left and I will give

an application so you will do it for 30
minutes”

 Application
“This time, we will have another
group activity to apply what you’ve
learned. This activity is called the
Figures of Speech Hunt Game. I will
divide you again into five (5) groups.
Each group will be given a Carolina.
The cartolina will be divided into three
where you will write
the three figures of speech discussed
in each column. On my cue, you will
search around the room for pieces of
paper with sentences on it. You will
post the paper on the correct column.
You will be given one point for each
sentence placed in the correct
column. You will have only 5 minutes
to complete the task and the group
with the highest point wins and have
a free snack from me.”

“Are you ready to be a hunter?
