1. Theo báo cáo mới đây của Tổ chức văn hoá, khoa học, giáo dục LHQ
(UNESCO) trên thế giới hiện có 100 triệu người mù chữ. Trong đó 45,5% là
dân châu Á Thái Bình Dương. Các nước có tỷ lệ mù chữ cao nhất châu lục
này là Ấn độ (34,6%), Bangladesh (6,8%), Pakistan (6,2%) và Indonesia
(2,4%). Bản báo cáo có tên là Giám sát tình hình giáo dục toàn cầu 2006
cho biết các quốc gia như Trung Quốc, Brunei, Macao, Maldivies, Singapo
và Thái Lan sẽ nhanh chóng giảm bớt số người mù chữ do những nỗ lực
về giáo dục của mình. Theo UNESCO, ngoài tác động của thiên tai, thì
mức học phí cao, chất lượng giáo dục kém và ngân sách giáo dục ít ỏi đã
đẩy tỷ lệ mù chữ tăng cao.
2. Trong năm học 2007-2008, chính phủ Bỉ dành 40 suất học bổng toàn phần
cho công dân Việt Nam muốn theo học các chương trình đào tạo thạc sĩ
và tiến sĩ phối hợp tại các trường đại học của Bỉ. Học bổng bao gồm phụ
cấp hàng tháng, vé máy bay khứ hồi, bảo hiểm y tế cơ bản, học phí và các
khoản lệ phí bắt buộc khác. Trong một số trường hợp, các chi phí nghiên
cứu thực địa cũng sẽ được hỗ trợ. Theo ước tính, hiện nay có khoảng
hơn 38,000 học sinh Việt Nam đang học tập tại các nước trên thế giới.
3. Ngày 4/1, Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ tại Việt Nam thông báo Chương trình học
bổng Fulbright lấy bằng thạc sĩ tại Mỹ năm học 2017- 2018. Học bổng bao
gồm toàn bộ học phí, trợ cấp hàng tháng, vé máy bay khứ hồi đến Mỹ và
bảo hiểm y tế. Người được cấp học bổng sẽ theo học chương trình thạc
sĩ tại các trường đại học Hoa Kỳ bắt đầu vào năm học 2017-2018. Chương
trình Fulbright được thành lập năm 1946 với nguồn tài trợ từ chính phủ
Mỹ với mục tiêu tăng cường hiểu biết lẫn nhau thông qua trao đổi văn
hoá và giáo dục.
4. Theo ước tính, hiện nay có khoảng hơn 38,000 học sinh Việt Nam đang
học tập tại các nước trên thế giới. Học sinh, sinh viên Việt Nam thường
mong muốn đi học tại các nước Anh, Mỹ, Canada, Australia. Gần đây họ
có xu hướng đi sang các nước châu Á như Nhật Bản, Trung Quốc, Hàn
Quốc, Singapore, Thái Lan, Malaysia. Ngoài ra còn một số nước khác ở
châu Âu như Pháp, Đức, Hà Lan, Thuỵ Sĩ, Nga. Thông tin từ các cuộc triển
 lãm du học cho thấy số người muốn học tại Mỹ chiếm khoảng 26,3%, Anh
18,7%, Australia 10%, Singapore 9%.
5. Hiện tại ước tính có 7,5 triệu người bị nhiễm HIV ở châu Á TBD. Các
chuyên gia y tế cho rằng bệnh AIDS đang lây lan ở các nước châu Á nhanh
hơn bất kỳ khu nào trên thế giới.Chỉ có 3 nước có tỉ lệ nhiễm bệnh AIDS
hơn 1%, một số nước khác có tỉ lệ nhiễm cực cao ở một số nhóm dân cư.

1. According to a recent report of United Nations Educational, Scientific and

Cultural Organization (UNESCO), there are currently 100 million illiterate
people in the world. Of which 45.5% were residents of Asia-Pacific. The country
has the highest illiteracy rates continent are India (34.6%), China (11.3%),
Bangladesh (6.8%), Pakistan (6.2%) and Indonesia (2.4 %). The report titled
Global Education Monitoring in 2006 said countries such as China, Brunei,
Macau, Maldives, Singapore and Thailand will quickly reduce the number of
illiterates by the efforts of their education. According to UNESCO, in addition to
the impact of natural disasters, high tuition fees, poor education quality and
meager education budgets have pushed up the illiteracy rate.
2. In the 2007 - 2008 school year, the Belgian government spent 40 scholarships
for Vietnamese citizens who want to study joint master’s doctoral programs at
Belgian universities. Scholarships include monthly allowances, round trip flight
tickets, basic health insurance, college tuition and other mandatory fees. In some
cases, field research costs will also be assisted. According to estimates, there are
currently more than 38,000 Vietnamese students studying around the world.
3. On January 4th, the United States ambassador to Vietnam announced the
Fulbright master's scholarship program to obtain a master’s degree in the US for
the 2017-2018. Scholarships include full tuition funding, round-trip flight ticket
to the US and health insurance. Scholarship recipients will pursue master's
programs at US universities starting in the 2017-2018 school year. The Fulbright
Program was established in 1946 with funding from the US government with the
goal of enhancing mutual understanding through cultural and educational
exchange.
4. According to estimates, there are currently more than 38,000 Vietnamese
students studying in countries around the world. Vietnamese students often want
to study in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. Recently, they tend to go to
Asian countries such as Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
There are also some other countries in Europe such as France, Germany,
Netherlands, Switzerland, and Russia. Information from study abroad exhibitions
shows that the number of people wanting to study in the US is about 26.3%, the
UK is 18.7%, Australia is 10%, and Singapore is 9%.
5. Currently, it is estimated that 7.5 million people are infected with HIV in Asia
Pacific. Health specialist say AIDS is spreading faster in Asian countries than in
any other region in the world. Only three countries have a incidence rate of more
than 1% of AIDS, and some populations in other countries have a very high
incidence rate of AIDS.
