1. IDENTIFICATION
GRADE Ninth
Students at high school have a natural curiosity about their surroundings—a desire to
explore and investigate, see inside things, find out how things work and find answers to
their questions. Learning about science provides a framework for students to understand
and interpret the world around them. A High school science program engages students in a
process of inquiry and problem-solving in which they develop both knowledge and skills.
The purpose of the program is to encourage and stimulate learning by nurturing their sense
of wonderment, developing skill and confidence in investigating their surroundings and
building a foundation of experience and understanding upon which later learning can be
based. Secondary science programs help prepare students for life in a rapidly changing
world—a world of expanding knowledge and technology in which new challenges and
opportunities continually arise. Tomorrow’s citizens will live in a changing environment in
which increasingly complex questions and issues will need to be addressed. The decisions
and actions of future citizens need to be based on awareness and understanding of their
world and on the ability to ask relevant questions, seek answers, define problems and find
solutions.
The Sans Façon students are not bilingual with a mix of their English level in each course.
The process of introduction to science in High school has been a close connection
between the understanding of the concepts in their mother language ( Biology in Spanish
with 2 hours during the week) and the way they transfer their knowledge during the
Science Class.
3. OBJECTIVES
GENERAL:
COLEGIO DE LA PRESENTACIÓN SANS FAÇON
EDUCACIÒN PARA EL DESARROLLO HUMANO MISIÒN EVANGELIZADORA
The student will be able to use the methodology of science to explain and answer the
questions about the observable phenomena in their environment and to understand the
interrelation between the ecosystem and living being, and how physical and chemical
processes influence and regulate them.
SPECIFIC:
1. A solid body of knowledge in the natural, physical, and Earth and space sciences.
2. To develop and extend their knowledge of the nature of the scientific enquiry.
3. The ability to explore values and attitudes through science.
4. To encourage them to think about how we can use science for the best.
5. Strength of their Science skills using English as a second language
4. VALUES OF 2023
The Sans Façon Presentation school will work for this year 2023 on the values of Listen,
tolerance, Fraternity, and service. As a process of valuing the person as the centre of the
teaching-learning activity, multiculturalism is practised from the acceptance of the potential
of the human being and its possible points of improvement.
5. COMPETENCIAS A DESARROLLAR.
The methodology of the Biology subject for grade 11 is expressed in the development of
the UDPROCO, which in its different phases integrates theoretical and practical
knowledge. Exercises based on case studies and knowledge-type problems are proposed.
A wide variety of individual and group activities are developed.
The resources used are technological means such as the classroom, interactive exercise
pages such as a live worksheet, and laboratories.
7. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The evaluation during the teaching-learning process must be continuous and is related to
the constant monitoring of all the processes of the subject and the work in the classroom.
Furthermore, it must be flexible and comprehensive, considering: the understanding and
application of learning and the experience of values.
Students are allowed to reflect on their performance, carry out a personal dialogue with
themselves, try to find the cause and jointly seek strategies such as extra class work, with
complementary activities different from those already carried out with their respective
support: oral or written.
The evaluation is also made through the performance capacity that makes learning
meaningful, that is, relating what is learned and known with the way of applying it in the

spiritual, social, cognitive, aesthetic, cultural and physical fields. The performances are
interpreted from the achievement indicators that are based on the way the student uses
procedural, attitudinal, and conceptual knowledge in specific contexts.
PERFORMANCE
Contemplating the guidelines of the M.E.N. and the basic standards of education, the
criteria that will be considered for the evaluation will be:
