Jakkulin Lilly Priya. C, Assistant Professor, Department of Mental Health Nursing, College
of Nursing, PIMS. It is important that you read this description of the study and understand
your role in it including the nature and risks of participation. Please give your consent to
participate in this descriptive study only if you have completely understood the nature and
course of this study and if you are aware of your rights as a participant.

III. Purpose of the study:

We are doing this study to find out the level of stress among wives of alcoholics and
wives of non-alcoholics.

IV. Expected duration of the study and number of subjects:

You will be given 10 minute to answer the questions.
You will be one of the approximately 40 participants who will be participating in
this study.
V. Study procedures to be followed:
For the purpose of this study, I will be collecting certain personal information about
yourself for example your name, age, education, other Socio-demographic variables.
You will be asked few questions with regard to your response towards questions
scores will be given.

 VI. Risks and discomforts of participating
There is no possible risk due to this study.
VII. Possible benefits of the study:
There will be harm in participating in this study. Perceives Stress Scale consists
of 10 items.
VIII. Compensation for participation:
There is no reimbursement and compensation for participating in this study. The
rules will be followed as PIMS policy.
IX. Rights to withdraw from the study:
Participation is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to take part also.

X. Confidentiality:
All study records will be kept confidential at all times. Your identity will not
be revealed except as required by law. The results of the study may be published for
scientific reasons. Your identity will not be revealed in these publications.
