ABSTRACT SUMMARY

We started our Investigatory project by researching about how banana peels can be turned into a dishwasher we soon found
an article (Investigative Project) by Danica M.G (2021), Christian S. (2021), and Aileen F.T (2021). we based on that article
for our introduction in 1st quarter we then gathered some information about the hypothesis of the project and some of
the problems of the project that we may fix. We tested they're experiment and we believe that it was false it did not work
for us even though we followed the steps given. We then wrote our own experience towards the experiment that we
followed from the Investigative project and made a experimental design, apparatus, data gatherings, types of control, date
and time, and last variable we all made this for the methodology in 2nd quarter. For results and discussion we decided to
based on the experiment that we followed from the Investigative Project here we concluded our own reccomendations for
the experiment for the following people who want to try it for themselves. Our conclusion for the results and discussion is
that our given experiment did not work, even though we tried many ways to prevent its issues we cannot simply get rid of
those easily. And that is the summary of Investigatory Project, Methodology, and Results and Discussion

INTRODUCTION !

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Our place of living our life – the Earth, is fully affected by changing technologies, factories and other
industrialized plants. We all know that dishwasher is commonly used everywhere in the world, but in
actuality it contains harmful chemicals and when the water used for washing dishes reaches the ocean, it
can be harmful to marine life around the world. The discharged chemicals from a vast number of factories
on our river and other water phases was
continuously destroyed and damaged, all the chemicals nutrients major for the destruction of our water
phases- the Aquatic living things died because of the harmful properties of a chemical. If this project
does succeed it will most likely benefit everything in the world, as it contributes with stopping pollution
and cleanses the homes of marine life. Even if the project does not help with the harmful chemicals we
can always hope for another person to develop better alternatives for it.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

The investigative project found/made a new substitute for dishwashing. By using Banana (Musa sapientum) peelings,
in this case we can save money and just use banana peels to clean because as it said it serves the same purpose
instead of putting harmful chemicals in your plates, bowls, spoons, and forks use banana peels and in this situation
buying of detergent bars and dishwashing liquid are decreased. Also through this we can help the case of water
According to: pollution because 70% percent of the earth is water. In this project they had helped people who are short in money
also has contributed a very great help to the society. There are a lot of factories that don’t concern about what will
Danica M.G (2021) happen if they discharged the chemicals, this can cause water pollution because of this project people encouraged
other people to use this method in order to save money. Although its more convenient to use dishwashing liquid its
Christian S. (2021) more important to save money and use what you have, specifically this project aims to determine the feastability of
banana peelings as a substitute for dishwashing liquid. The banana peelings they are considered valuable both for their
Aileen F.T (2021) nutritional qualities as well as their economic qualities, and they
come in a variety of colors, flavors and sizes. Not only the banana fruit is useful, but also its skin. Banana
skins are composed of nutritional, non nutritional contents ND minerals. Banana peels have become a supply
of nutrients for animal feedstock and a fertilizer. Banana peels have special cleaning properties that make
them a tremendous environmentally friendly cleaning product. The fibrous part (cellulose) of banana peel is
one of its cleaning properties.
III

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Specifically, this project endeavor to:

1. To control the water pollution.
2. Determine the Feasibility of Banana peelings as an alternative or substitute for the
commercial
dishwasher inning liquid
3. Assess the banana peelings dishwashing liquid and commercial dishwashing liquid in
terms of its
odor, cleaning agents and the effectiveness in greasiness and oiliness of an individual
plate.
III

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The Investigative project expected banana peelings to help clean dishes and maybe
minimize the water pollution and it would make dishes smell nicer, and would be great
to use it. Using banana peelings would help the world and lower the garbage pollution
and help stop the garbage pollution by using it in a dishwasher. And even make an
eco-friendly product that could not harm the environment. The banana peels also
serves as a easy dishwasher for some people who dosen't have enough supplies to
clean they're dishes or other utensils needed.
III

HYPOTHESIS

1. Banana Peelings dishwashing liquid can be a good substitute for

immemorial dishwashing liquid with it
same properties like odor, cleaning properties and effectiveness to
greasiness and oiliness.
2. Banana Peelings dishwashing liquid can be an efficient bacterial killer.
3. Banana peelings dishwashing liquid is cheaper and easy to make that the
commercial dishwashing liquid.
III

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Water pollution is one of the common problems nowadays and it also leads to many unwanted events such
as death of our living creatures in the ocean, the Philippines cause of water pollution is the use of
chemicals from factories, it affects our plants, our air, & overall our world with the use of banana
peelings as dishwashing, it will also help improve the water pollution and also saves money. If you think of
it banana peeling may not be the best solution to help us but that’s where the explanation starts, it has
been proven a lot of times and has been scientifically proven that banana peels can be a very great tool to
help us clean and the bacteria will also react with the way its being cleaned. This project will significantly
help the environment ease the chemical problems that causes water pollution ,
price hike and health problems like gastrointestinal diseases.
III

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

This study deals with Banana (MUSM Sapient ) specifically its

peelings. The
banana peelings were gathered when we eat banana or in a banana
cue stand. We gathered evaluations on
how effective the banana peelings as a dishwashing liquid, and also
how bacteria will react when they are
washed using the MUSM Sapient Dishwasher.
METHODOLOGY !
IV

RESEARCH DESIGN
By doing this we could find out if the
banana peelings can actually clean the
dishes and wash them thoroughly and
carefully after that a refreshing smell
of bananas that could possibly be a
better alternative for dishwashing
liquid.
IV

RESEARCH PROCEDURE

We peel the banana peelings cut then into small pieces then
rubbed it on some of the dishes and washed the dishes
carefully and thoroughly to insure we don't miss a spot Then we
examine the dishes carefully so we can see if it leaves a
perfectly clean dish
RESULTS & DISCUSSION !
V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

We discovered that the banana peel dishwasher was indeed cleaning

the plate, but left tracings of the banana which was scrubbed on
the plate. it also made the plate stickier. after use, the plate was
only cleaned for a short period after being rubbed by the banana
peel dishwasher, though despite the banana peel cleaning the plate,
the odor of the banana remained.
V

INTERPRETATION OF DATA

While making the experiment, we found out that, as a dishwasher, banana peels are not
convenient nor effective for washing dishes as it would only worsen the state of the dish,
although it saves on costs for sponges, it just makes the dish dirtier than it already is as it
leaves more problems and would most likely only effective for drier dishes but it has proved
many issues such as bad odor and it leaves residue.
V

CONCLUSION

We have concluded that it does work, although it will leave residue from the banana peel making
it somewhat worse, but at the same time leaving the scent of the banana used. Furthermore,
even with a numerous amounts of banana peel that could lessen the waste, if used in a
household, it will run out faster than sponges. Therefore, using peels that does not clean well
can be repurpose in other areas.
V

RECOMMENDATIONS

For other researchers here are some problems and

recommendations we would like to pass on, the first issue is that the residue it leaves
once done needs further research to control the release of the deposits, also using it
as a dishwasher gives it the smell of a banana but it could make food have a worse taste.
We believe further research can alleviate these problems.

Experiment Procedure

If you want to imitate the experiment for any reason whatsoever here: The bananas used in the
experiment were carefully selected and ensured to be fresh and ripe and were locally sourced from a
market. Each manually peeled and once finished the peelings were sliced into medium-small modular pieces
prepared by a knife. These pieces were then thoroughly applied to the dirty dishes but despite that the
results were disappointing to say the least. Not only did the banana peelings fail to effectively remove
any stains from the dishes, but also left behind an unpleasant odor and sticky residue and therefore
failed the hypotheses that was formulated.
