This paper consists of 04 pages.

Instructions:

This is a portfolio examination conducted on the myExams platform. As this is an open-book examination, you must use your
study guide and prescribed reading material (articles, e-reserves) and feedback from your marked assignments. You should also
consult and integrate material from additional sources into your answers.

This module is using the Invigilator app. Your exam QR & access code is embedded above. Please read the instruction below on how
to use the Invigilation app during this exam. Alternatively, an instruction document with the same QR & access code is accessible on
myUNISA under ‘Additional Resources’ tab.

• You should scan the QR Code as soon as you have downloaded your question paper during the 15-minute download window
before the official exam start time as per the timetable.

• Please take note that you can only scan the QR code for a limited time after the commencement time of the assessment and
it should therefore be scanned as soon as possible to start the invigilation.

• Please take note that you can only scan the QR code once. Make sure you are ready to start the assessment when you scan
the QR Code.

• It is important to note that you must adhere to the time limit in your myExams assessment as the invigilation time in the app
could exceed the time allocated to complete your assessment.

• Keep the Invigilator app open on your cell phone during the assessment. You are not allowed to leave or minimise the
application.

• If you experience technical difficulties on The Invigilator App, contact the technical helpdesk via WhatsApp on 073 505 8273.

• You have 4 hours in which to submit your portfolio on myExams.

• This exam consists two sections: Answer questions in both sections:


Section A consists of THREE essay questions. You must answer only one essay question in this section.

• Your essay should be a minimum of 1 000 and a maximum of 2000 words, excluding the cover page, honesty declaration,
table of contents, and list of references. Your essay must have the introduction, a body with applicable sub-headings, a
conclusion and list of references.
• For academic and essay writing refer to Tutorial Letter DVAALLD/301.
• Provide relevant examples to strengthen your arguments.
• Remember you are required to provide evidence-based arguments and acknowledge sources of your information by
means of consistent and correct in-text referencing. See Tutorial Letter DVAALLD/301 on how to reference different
sources.
Section B consists of FIVE questions. Answer All 5 questions.

• Answer each question by presenting a brief discussion of at least two to three paragraphs. Each question consists of 10
marks.
• Provide relevant examples to strengthen your arguments.
• Remember you are required to provide evidence-based arguments and acknowledge sources of your information
by means of consistent and correct in-text referencing.

In both sections (A&B) use Arial 12 point, 1.5 spacing.

You must use your study guide and prescribed reading material (e-reserves and other readings). You are also encouraged to consult
and integrate information from additional academic sources.
No hand-written/scanned answer scripts will be accepted in this exam.
Create a cover page with the following information:
• Your full name
• Your student number
• The module code
• The module name
• List the questions you answered
• The date of the exam

Remember to sign the departmental honesty declaration and incorporate it to your exam answer file. A word copy of this declaration is
accessible on myUNISA under ‘Additional Resources’ tab.

Note that when you submit your work, all answers (Section A & B) must be in ONE (PDF) portfolio/document. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Please do not send each answer separately – ALL answers must be submitted as a single document in PDF format. This PDF
document must include, the cover page, honesty declaration, table of contents, your exam answers and the list of references.

Evaluate the contribution of rural-urban migration to rural development. (50)
