Aryan Satapathy's Statement for Business Administration /

Management and/or Computing
I've studied economics for the past 2 years and it's been very exciting. Having lived in Singapore for over 18
years, my life has been surrounded with parents attending various types of meetings, shareholder meetings,
business meetings, investing in stocks, cryptocurrencies etc. All this continually made me feel more inclined
towards Business Administration/Management. Together with my father working in the computing industry,
he's always talked about how technologies have improve and how artificial intelligence paves the way for new
technologies. Having done Masters in Computer Science, he's always motivated me to learn technological
languages, terms etc., however due to my own lethargy I've not been able to do so however, this is how I'm
going to make it up to him and my mum. My parents have been my inspirational figures for as far back as I can
remember and I intend to uphold their expectations and continue their legacy in Business
Administration/Management and Computing. As a result, I've gained most of my interest and skills from these
areas and personally would like to pursue this as my tertiary education. These prospects excite me very much.

To begin with, I've been a school representative in several events back in Singapore in which I've taken part in
competitions, 'conferences', activities and much more. This has invoked a sense of leadership and
accountability for my actions which has contributed to my economic sense and my key interest in studying
business management. Additionally, having read several articles, abstracts and sometimes even books have
also guided me to really signify what economies and businesses are all about. As Warren Buffet has mentioned
"When a management with a reputation for brilliance tackles a business with a reputation for bad economics, it
is the reputation of the business that remains intact." This quote has added fuel to the fire in some sort as to
why I should pursue business administration/management in Universities. Watching Shark Tank is something
that I'm not very proud of but it has certainly helped. With India being one of the start-up capitals of the world,
I've witnessed many businesses being set up in front of my eyes many of which are successful in their own
competence.

In many successful companies around the world, there are successful leaders and every leader definitely has a
setback in his/her life. One of mine was when I lost some money investing in stocks using small money in Swiss
markets. I had lost $100 which was significant to me as my total investment was $150 which shows how much
research and knowledge is required before buying and investing in stock options. With time, people realise why
they want to study this or that subject but, with me, it's different. With me being interested in leading, standing
in the front, being accountable for every action, it's a whole other zest altogether.

Additionally, it is a cause to wonder what John Maynard Keynes has established back in the 19th century, how
much of an impact it has had in our lives. Since business related studies is heavily related to economics, I feel
like Keynes has impacted the way merchants operate in the markets. This also goes to say that I would also like
to study on par with Business related studies, Artificial Intelligence and related fields such as Data Science and
Computer Science. I believe that with the right skills, I'll be able to come in front of others in the technological
world and hopefully fulfil my aspiration of being the leader of a unicorn company.

Over the years, both in Singapore and influenced by Indians, I've grown to love Cricket and have played with my
friends and helped once devised a tournament to determine the Cricket Grandmasters, as what we called. I've
previously worked in teams and have done so when I was the Staff Seargent in NCC Singapore and developed
training programmes for cadets, which is one of my prominent achievements.
