Pinpoint Test B: DTC C1288 — Pressure Transducer Main/Primary Input Circuit Failure

Normal Operation

The brake pedal switch has greater than 10 volts when the ignition is in the ON position. When the brake is applied, voltage to the ABS module is removed. This normally closed switch
is powered by the smart junction box (SJB) fuse 18 (10A) on circuit 601 (LB/PK) and feeds the ABS module on circuit 535 (LB/RD).

Possible Causes
 Circuit open
 Circuit shorted
 Speed control deactivation switch
 Brake pedal position (BPP) switch
 Brake pressure transducer
 Bussed electrical center (BEC)
 ABS module
 Hydraulic control unit (HCU)

PINPOINT TEST B: DTC C1288 — PRESSURE TRANSDUCER MAIN/PRIMARY INPUT CIRCUIT FAILURE

NOTICE: Use the flex probe kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.

Test Step Result / Action to Take

B1 CHECK THE SPEED CONTROL
 Operate the speed control. Yes
Does the speed control operate correctly? GO to B2.

No
For further diagnosis of the speed control, REFER to
Section 310-03.
B2 MONITOR THE ABS MODULE BRAKE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER PID
 Ignition OFF. Yes
Connect: ABS Module C155. GO to B3.
Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: ABS Module Brake Pressure Transducer PID.
While monitoring the ABS module MC_PRES PID, firmly apply and release the brake pedal several times. No
Does the PID increase as pressure is applied to the brake pedal and decrease as the pedal is INSTALL a new HCU. REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit
released? (HCU) in this section. CLEAR all DTCs. REPEAT the self-
test.
B3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE ABS MODULE
 Ignition OFF. Yes
Disconnect: ABS Module C155. GO to B6.
 Ignition ON.
Measure the voltage between ABS module C155-6, circuit 535 (LB/RD), harness side and ground while No
pressing and releasing the brake pedal. With the brake pedal released, there should be greater than 10 volts GO to B4.
and with the pedal pressed, there should be 0 volts.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the pedal released and 0 volt with the pedal pressed?
B4 CHECK THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH VOLTAGE SUPPLY
 Ignition OFF. Yes
Disconnect: C1025 Brake Pressure Switch. GO to B5.
 Ignition ON.
Measure the voltage between brake pressure switch C1025-2, circuit 601 (LB/PK), harness side and ground. No
VERIFY Smart Junction Box (SJB) fuse 18 (10A) is OK. If
the fuse is OK, REPAIR circuit 601 (LB/PK). CLEAR the
DTCs. TEST DRIVE the vehicle. REPEAT the self-test.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

B5 ISOLATE THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH
Connect a fused jumper wire between brake pressure switch C1025-1, circuit 535 (LB/RD), harness side Yes
and brake pressure switch C1025-2, circuit 601 (LB/PK), harness side. INSTALL a new brake pressure switch.

No
REPAIR circuit 535 (LB/RD) for an open. CLEAR the
DTCs. TEST DRIVE the vehicle. REPEAT the self-test.

Measure the voltage between ABS module C155-6, circuit 535 (LB/RD), harness side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

B6 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION

 spread terminals.
 Connect: ABS Module C155. No
Make sure the connector seats correctly, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present. The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern
Is the concern still present? may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
CLEAR the DTCs and CARRY OUT the self-test with the
brake pedal not applied.
