Steps of Interpolation:
Step 1: Subtract the 2nd data from the 3rd data
7−3=4
Step 2: Multiply the result by the decimal part
obtained in the second step (Position of Q1).
4(0,5) = 2
Step 3: Add the result in step 2, to the 2nd or
smaller number.
3+2=5
Grade 10 Mathematics
Quarter IV Day 1 Lesson Plan
Therefore, the value of Q1 = 5.
2. Can you now find Q3 using Interpolation?
Note: As we can see, these methods sometimes
(but not always) produce the same result.
F. Developing Mastery Activity: Find Me.
(Leads to formative Think-Pair-Share
assessment 3) F. Developing Instruction: The students must be divided into
Mastery (Leads to formative two groups, the group of tutees (Average
assessment 3) Learners) and the tutors (Advanced Learners).
Every member will be paired up in this activity
and answer the designated questions each and
discuss the process as well as the final answer
to their partner afterwards.
Average Learner (tutee)
Given: 4, 9, 7, 14, 10, 8, 12, 15, 6, 11
1. Find the first quartile using the Mendenhall and
Sincich Method.
2. Find the third quartile using Linear
Interpolation.
