V. PROCEDURES Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. REVIEWING THE I have here a short activity before we proceed
PREVIOUS LESSON to our discussion.
OR PRESENTING THE
NEW LESSON I will give a box on the first pupil then it will be
passed on the next pupil and I will play a
music, if the music stops the pupil that is
holding the box will be the one to pick a card
and read the question then answer it also.

Tell me Zero (0) for impossible to happen,

One-half (½) for equally like to happen, and
one (1) for certain to happen.

Are you ready?

1. A frog will swim in the water.

Very Good. ½

Next,

2. You will finish reading this sentence.

1
Next,

3. The cat drives the car.

0
Next,

4. You cannot stop the Earth from

spinning. 1

Next,
5. All of the boys in Grade 5-FLC can fly. 0

6. It will rain tomorrow. ½

Very good, I am glad that you can tell me

about the possible result or possible answer
to all situation.

Our topic for today is related to what we

played, which all about predictions about
events or situations based on facts or data
available and it is also known as probability.

B. ESTABLISHING A Now let discuss about “Experimental

PURPOSE FOR THE Probability”
LESSON
We are going to know what is it and we are
going to try to record the results of this by
listing.

Are you ready? Yes, teacher.

C. PRESENTING Let us proceed in the discussion about

EXAMPLES / Describing experimental probability.
INSTANCES OF THE
NEW LESSON Who can read the definition of Probability? Probability is the mathematics of
chance. It is the field in
mathematics that deals with
chances.
It is used to make predictions about possible
outcomes based on a set of data.

We use fractions to describe probability.

Class kindly look at my hand,

Can you tell or can you guess where is the

coin?

In my right hand or left hand? LEFT!

RIGHT!

Based on your predictions, there is an equal

chance that 1 peso coin can be kept either on
my left or right hand.

Am I right? YES!

The probability that the 1 peso coin will keep

on the left hand is 1 result out of two possible
outcomes, or ½. Since it is likely that the coin
will keep on the right, that probability is also
½.

The sample space of this is 2 and the

probability (P) of each sample point is 1/2 .

Class, since I only have 1 left hand and 1

right hand,

(1) (1/2)= ½

The probability of putting the coin either on

my left or right hand is ½ or 50%.
Is the clear? Yes teacher

D. DISCUSSING NEW we will do a short activity called “Pick a Color”

CONCEPTS AND
PRACTICING NEW
I have here a box and I also have 3 blue, 2
SKILLS #1
green and 1 red colored paper.

I am going to put it in the box and with

looking you will pick one colored paper from
the box.

We will also record it on the chart.

I will call 15 students.

Are you ready?

Yes, teacher.

(The 15 chosen students will do the activity)

Now, let us make a list of probability based

on our experiment.

Class the probability can be approximated by

the fraction.
The formula of finding the experimental
probability:

P(event) = number of times an event occurred

number of times the experiment
was performed

Now lets solve each experimental probability

events

(Note: Results vary depending on the

outcome of the activity.)

P(green) = ______
15
P(blue) = ______
15
P (red) = ______
15

(the teacher will let the student

to answer the activity)

E. DISCUSSING NEW Among 15 of your classmates who performed

CONCEPTS AND the activity,
PRACTICING NEW
SKILLS #2
How many picked the color green? 9

How about color blue? 4

Red? 2

What is the most picked color based on our Color Blue

experiment?

What is the least pick color? Red

Remember this,

the greater the probability of an event, the

more likely it will occur.

The smaller the probability of an event, the

less likely the probabilities.

F. DEVELOPING I will group you into 3, you will perform a

MASTERY (LEADS TO short activity.
FORMATIVE
ASSESSMENT)
I have here a mystery bag. Inside of it is our
task.

Group 1: Candy Experimental Probability

Group 2: Pen Experimental Probability
Group 3: Letter Experimental Probability
You have 6 minutes to answer the activity.

(The student will answer the activity)

Are you done? Yes.

Now choose 1 representative to present your

works.

(the representatives will present their works)

(the teacher will check their works)

Very good class, I am glad that you can be

able to perform the experimental probability
by listing the results.

G. FINDING PRACTICAL In your daily life, can you give me a problem-

APPLICATION OF solving situation where we can use the
CONCEPTS AND experimental probability?
SKILLS IN DAILY
LIVING Mark? If I want to know if it will be
raining or not.

What is the probability? ½

What else? Playing color game every fiesta

Very good,

Again, how many colors can you observe

when you play color game? 6

Give me 6 colors. Blue

Yellow
Red
White
Pink
Green
What is the probability of getting the RED
color?

What is the answer? 1/6

Very good.
H. MAKING Is it important to learn what is experimental
GENERALIZATIONS OF probability and how to solve it? Why?
CONCEPTS AND Yes, because we can use this
SKILLS IN DAILY in a lot of problem-solving
LIVING situations in our daily life.

Very good.
We can also figure out what
What else? Sarah? most likely and less likely to
happen in every situation or
event.

Very good.

I. EVALUATING Alphabet cards of the same size and shape

LEARNING were put in a bag. 3 cards have letter M, 4
cards have letter A, 2 cards have letter T, and
1 card has letter H.

1. What is the total number of possible

outcomes? ______________.
2. What is the probability of picking a:
a. card with letter M ________
b. card with letter A
c. card with letter T ________
d. card with letter H ________
e. card with a vowel ________
f. card with a consonant ________
J. ASSIGNMENT In your book Real-Life Mathematics, kindly
answer page 398. Letter D no. 10-14.

Write your answer in your Mathematics

notebook.
