Concept of Potential Yield
Concept of Potential Yield
Potential yield.
YR = C×DR×P
P= mean fraction of C
Y = f (E, P, M, S)
Among the various factors, climate is the most dominating factor influencing
the stability of a crop to particular region. The yield potential of a crop mainly
depends on climate. More than 50 per cent of variation in yield of a crop is due to
climatic differences. The most important climatic factors that influence growth,
development and yield of crops are temperature, rainfall (Moisture supply) and
solar radiation.

flowering. (Fageria et al.,1997)
(B) Soil factors:
Among the all soil factors, soil nutrient management is the most important
factors, which affect production potential of the particular crop.
(10) In highly developed agriculture, large increase in yield potential will mostly
come from interaction effects. Farmers must be ready to test all new advances
that may raise yield potential of their crops and be prepared to try combination of
two or more practice
