Dear Readers
Greetings of Peace!
I hope this letter finds you in the best of health and spirits. As I find myself in the midst of
my work immersion trainee program in your vibrant barangay San Mateo, I am compelled to
put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) to share the invaluable experiences I have gained
and to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this enlightening
journey. Embarking on this journey, I was a bundle of nerves and excitement, eager to learn
and contribute to our community.
The barangay San Mateo, with its pulsating energy and diverse challenges, served as the
perfect classroom, offering lessons far beyond the confines of traditional education. Each day
has been a deep dive into understanding the grassroots of governance, community service,
and the profound impact of collective effort. This experience has sculpted my perspective,
teaching me the importance of empathy, leadership, and the power of small actions in
creating significant change. To the Barangay Captain and other members of the barangay,
thank you for your unwavering guidance and patience. Your wisdom and dedication to public
service have inspired me to pursue a path of purpose and passion. To the community
members, thank you for welcoming me with open arms and allowing me to be part of your
lives, even if just for a short while. The stories shared the laughter, and even the challenges
faced together have enriched my understanding of what it truly means to serve.
As I continue on this path, I carry with me not just the knowledge and skills acquired, but
also the profound sense of community and responsibility towards the greater good. Let this
letter serve as a testament to the transformative power of work immersion in a barangay
setting, and may it inspire future trainees to embrace this journey with an open heart and
mind. Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to the day I can
give back to the community that has given me so much.

BARANGAY HISTORY
Residents earn their livelihood by planting rice, corn vegetables, and root crops.
Being a forested area, it became a hunting ground for deer wild pigs, and
chickens which they use for daily consumption. They also use this resource to
barter trade.
In the 1950 when the national highway was put up residents began to build their
houses along the national highway. Due to the sudden growth of population, the
barangay officials then decided to divide into two Ugad Norte and Ugad Sur.
gad Sur covered the whole sitio of "TUBUNG". In the year 1958. after a
consultation agreed by the constituents and passed by the municipal council
rough municipal ordinances. Ugad Sur was renamed to San Mateo. This name
was derived from the late Dr. Mateo Sanchez, a native of this barangay. He is a
Doctorate Degree Holder in education who became a Division Superintendent
of Schools in different provinces of the Philippines. This where the name of
Barangay San Mateo all started.
