Magazines
I will attempt to make a film magazine, which fixates its covers and stories upon pop culture and especially
intertextuality. This would appeal to an age range of 16-25 as the stories, reviews and people referenced will be
highly likely to engage my target audience. While there is competition within the magazine market especially with
film magazines, I feel like that my magazine hits the demographic in such a unique and fresh way. Our content would
be more sophisticated and will trigger independent thought in a time where most media would be what George
Gerbner suggests, a clickbait and saturated where it discourages the viewer to think.

With the name “Final Cut” will be very snappy and easily rememberable, and this recognisability with our
sophisticated but fresh stories will connotate the reader that this product will be informative and appealing to trends.

My inspiration for this magazine are similar magazines such as Empire or Total Film. These are magazines that while
be sophisticated are still enjoyable to reader but these two magazines doesn’t target the demographic which I'm
appealing to. Final cut will attempt to be an independent publication to these magazine businesses in the hopes to
make magazines more appealing to an younger audience as there is a decline in younger audience interest in
magazines.
The cover
The main images of my covers will both be characters from popular franchises, which the intentions of
being easily identified from the demographic who can identify these characters and feel excited to read
the magazine. Society shows us that we must represent two parts of whatever industries they are apart
of; either in gender identity and expression, sexuality or even age. Allowing the diverse readership of the
16-25 demographic to be represented and feel represented and acknowledge by our magazine
editions.
My colour schemes for my magazines will always have black and white which brings a boldness to the
magazine. As the younger generation are more out spoken and uses social media to make statements
and comment on current events. Having this boldness of colour will make us have a standing out to our
demographic.
The fonts I’ll use from my masehead will be the same font as a Star Wars font which would appeal to
the intertextuality aspect to the magazine which I am intending on having. And this specific
intertextuality is very recognisable.
The contents page
In my content pages, there will be an heavy emphasis on this intertextuality element that is in my
covers. My content pages will be filled with different images of pop cultural references such as
Jason Voorhees, predator, Michael Myers etc. Then I’ll have page numbers on the page with titles
and small blurbs going along them to hook the reader into reading the full story on the page
where the story is.
The colours of the front cover will reflect the colour scheme of the front cover of the issue. My
colours will synergise with one another and despite the boldness of the black and white and the
different colours will end up creating a harmony with bold and fresh.

My inspirations for my content pages is the content pages similar Empire magazine. Its robust and
eye catching to the readers, the pictures used in their content pages is strong and bold, it leads
you and massive introduction in what content you are going to read about
Website
When looking at the empire site, I see that the tone and style on the site isn’t the same that you
get from their front covers and content pages. On their site, the colour scheme and style on it was
blander and not the style I was hoping for my magazine site. I preferably use a site like
magazine.co.uk for how I would structure my site. It's clear and got a bit more style than the
empire site. And how its structured and displays its magazines is a huge influence for me.
The second page for my site will be an 'about' section where I will go more Indepth about our
editors and how they specifically help the magazine company in their endeavours. This would
increase the reliability of the magazine to the target audience.
My idea for the audio/visual content for the site will be a video of me giving an editor of sorts and
me thanking them for visiting our site and giving them a quick run through on the site and what
they should expect
