D. Lesson Proper

a. Presentation of the lesson

Today, our lesson is all about analyzing

visual media elements.

b. Discussion

(The teacher will show PowerPoint

presentation about the meaning of visual ICT Integration
media and its elements)

Visual media is a good source of data or

information in the form of visual
representations which include
abstractions, analogues, rough
illustrations or digital representations of
objects or subjects.

Visual media is interpreted through

looking at the visual elements. These are
the characteristics that we can see such as
line, shape, direction, size, texture, color,
and value.

Here are some most common visual

elements:

1. Lines - These are set of points

extending in both directions, used to
create shapes, forms, and textures. It can
vary in direction, length, and width.
Types of Lines:

a. Horizontal lines – suggest distance

and calm.
b. Vertical lines - suggest height and
strength.
c. Diagonal lines – convey a feeling of
movement.
d. Curved lines – suggest comfort and
ease.
e. Zigzag lines – suggest excitement,
destruction, and unease.

2. Symbols - These instantly make

people think of traits or messages that
they want to associate with a subject.
These help us recognize, identify, and
recall images than texts. These are
commonly used in logos and signages.

3. Color - It is a very powerful visual

element which can create varied
emotions. Color suggests different
meanings and emotions in visual media.
Examples of color and its meaning:

a. Red – love, passion, anger, danger

b. Yellow - happiness, optimism,
creativity, warning.
c. Blue – coolness, calmness, peace,
wisdom
d. Black – evil, mysterious, powerful,
sadness.
e. White – simplicity, purity,
cleanliness, goodness
f. Green – nature, health, freshness,
jealousy

4. Gaze- It means to stare or look fixedly

at something. It means to look steadily
and intently at something, especially at
that which excites admiration, curiosity,
and interest. To gaze with eyes widely
open can mean surprise, wonder, alarm or
witnessing unbelievable. Looking and
observing the eyes and gaze of the
subject can help us infer the emotion.

5. Framing - It deals with the proper

placement of subject together with the
other images. It is used to highlight the
subject inside a particular frame. Using
frames can give more emphasis to the
subject.

6. Space - It is the area covered by the

entire artwork. It can be positive and
negative. Understanding the positive and
negative space plays important role in the
composite of artwork. Positive space
denotes the area of interest or the subject
of the artwork.
