I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts on
Estimation Parameters.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to apply the concepts of estimation
parameters to formulate and solve real-life problems with
precision and accuracy.
C. Learning Competencies /
Objectives. 1. Define estimate and point estimate.
2. Compute Point estimate of the population parameter data.
3. Integrate ICT (Excel) in computing the mean of the means.

Motivation
SCRAMBLE WORD!
Given the following letters form a word or group of words
that correspond each of the following statement.

1. Set of all people, objects, events, or ideas you want to

investigate (Population)
2. A subset of a population. (Sample)
3. An Average score (Mean).
4. A number that describe a population characteristics.
(parameter)
5. Fixed number of elements (finite)
Presenting examples of the
new lesson:

1. Compute for the point estimate of the population.

2. Based on the result, what action would you make?

Activity:
THINK-PAIR SHARE: (5mins.)
Analysis  What is Estimate?
 What is Estimation?
 What is point estimate?

Abstraction Possible answers.

An estimate is a value or a range of values that approximate a

parameter. It is based on sample statistics computed from
sample data.

Estimation is the process of determining parameter values.

Point estimate is a specific numerical value of a population

parameter. The sample mean is the best point estimate of the
population mean.

Application GROUP ACTIVITY: Find the point estimate of the population

parameter and the standard deviation of the following set of
data.

Percentage of children who watch TV before bedtime.

Assessment INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY: Find the point estimate of the

population parameter of the following set of data.
Assignment Quipper Assignment No. 3.
