8.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

8.1 General

8.1.1 Before installation work, contractor need to prepare request for inspection (RFI) for
Client will inspect and check whether the situation at site in good order before starting
work such as the condition of the machine, the environment of site, and other related
issues.

8.1.2 All of the installation work activities must be supervised by site engineer and assist by
site supervisor to make sure all activities working according to the specification and
standard.

8.1.3 Site Engineer/Site Supervisor needs to identify all of the utilities before start work and
make sure installation work activities not disturb the utilities and be careful with the
utilities during works.

8.2 Initial Survey & Site Checking

Upon received of job instruction / drawing from Client, as initial site visit to be made along with
the Client representative to confirm the site and demarcations.

8.3. Setting Out

The existing waterproofing shall be set out and elevations marked by the specialist. In case of

8.4. Waterproofing

Ensure that all preceding activities or activities completed which cannot be accessed after
waterproofing works are inspected, released and approved.

i. Site Clearance
Existing waterproofing at work surface shall be removed and scrapped all existing waterproofing
residue material to achieve clean surface area. Prepare and level the concrete surfaces for
waterproofing either by chipping, hacking or scraping the surface. Repair the excessive
pinholes, and similar imperfections (if any) to eliminate uneven surface. The surface will be
smooth cement render and level up to elevation approved by Client.

ii. Surface Preparation

The floor screed shall be done at slope ranging 1% to 5% between 25mm to 50mm thickness to
achieve gradient and crossfalls. The surface area shall be clean, dry, smooth and treated with a
coat of Bostik Bituminiuos Primer to provide good bonding between the membrane and the
substrate. Barricade the working area as to be a non-trafficking passage. Raise an inspection
request for surface preparation prior to the waterproofing work commences.

iii. Application of Membrane Waterproofing

a. Priming
Before installation, prime substrate with Bostik Bitumen Primer at the rate of 5 m 2 per liter
depends on substrate condition

b. Placing
Starting from the lowest point where the drainage outlet is positioned unrolled the
Boscoseal Torch On membrane from its original packaging and placed on the correct
position where it will be torched later. The membrane is then re-rolled without changing its
original alignment. Slowly unrolled again and whilst unrolling, heat up the burn-off film on
the undersideof the membrane by a propane gas torch at controlled temperature causing
surface changes and subsequent adhesion to the substrate. All overlaps, edges end and
seams must be overlap by at least 75 to 100mm and shall be formed to shed water. The
bitumen compound coming out from the lightly pressed heated overlap of the membrane
should be carefully leveled by spreading it on the lap with a heated round trowel to form a
sealing bead.

iv. Protection
Ensure all other trades in the said location are put on hold during the waterproof application so
to protect and avoid any damage to the waterproofing layers. Ensure all surfaces to receive
waterproof fluid application firmly to achieve good adhesion and to be in one continuous
operation.

9.0 SAFETY AND HEALTH

9.1 Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Determining Control

Hazard identification, risk assessment and determining control shall be carried out for the
drainage work. Prior to any works commencement, cautions and awareness signs shall be
established at location of work. The hazards in a particular activity and the control measures
implemented shall be brief to the workers during ESH induction and tool box talk.

9.2 Information to Personnel

9.2.1 All workers employed in the project site compulsory have CIDB green card.

9.2.2 All new workers and staff to attend the ESH training / induction before commencing work
site and attendance shall be recorded in an induction list.

9.2.3 All site personnel shall wear proper personnel protective equipment (PPE). Workers who
fail to comply with this requirement will be removed from site.

9.2.4 All workers to attend the weekly toolbox meetings conducted by SSS/ SHO held at site
and attendance shall be recorded.

9.2.5 In summation, in order to achieve safe, free risk and healthy working environment,
including loss prevention, every practicable step must be taken by each and every one
engaged in this project site.
