TASK 33-46-11-879-802-A01
3. Maintenance Task Oriented Support System (MTOSS) Task/Sub-tasks numbering

A. General

The MTOSS system specifies a functional organization of the data and a numbering system
which gives a maintenance Task/Sub-tasks number to each step of the maintenance
operation (Task) described in the CMM. The Task/Sub-tasks numbers are mainly used for
data management and have no significance for the reader of the CMM. The Introduction
(INTRO) and the Description and Operation (DO) are broken down into Tasks. The
Maintenance Procedures (MP) are broken down into Tasks and Sub-tasks.

(a) TASK

A TASK is defined as:

- A maintenance work procedure which contains a sequence of work steps,

which may be organized into Sub-tasks.

- A block of data e.g. Description and Operation.

- A table, an illustration or a multi-sheet illustration e.g. Figure x Sheets 1 to 4 will

all be part of one Task.

(b) SUBTASK

INTRO

203
Page 6
Feb 03/14
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL
PART No. 727-1215-01-02 LED TAKE OFF LIGHT
A SUBTASK contains one or more work steps that are a significant part of the
procedure and which can be done by one skill, in one location at one time.

B. Structure of Task/Sub-tasks numbers

Form Tag Name XX-XX-XX -XXX -XXX -XXX -XXX

Element 1 2 3 4 5 6

(c) Element 1

The tag name is the word TASK, SUBTASK or GRAPHIC.

(d) Element 2

ATA number (six digits).

(e) Element 3

MTOSS function code (three digits). It is used to indicate the particular maintenance
function involved. For each tag name, this code is selected from numbers 000 to 999
as listed in the tables in Para. 3.C.

(f) Element 4

Function code sequence number (three digits). It enables a unique identification

number to be given to each Task/Sub-tasks.

Tasks and Sub-tasks are numbered differently:

- Task numbers start at 801 and rise, sequentially to 999 (maximum).

- Sub-tasks numbers start at 001 and rise, sequentially, to 800 (maximum) in the
Task.

- Illustrations and Tables are considered as Tasks. These Task numbers start at
001 and rise, sequentially to 999 (maximum) in the Task.

NOTE: If a particular Task or Sub-tasks is deleted, the Task/Sub-tasks

number must not be re-used.

(g) Element 5

Configuration/method code (three digits):

- The first digit is a letter and is used to manage different configurations

(modification, Service Bulletin(s), etc.).

- The second and third digits are used to identify alternative methods/techniques
of maintenance.

(h) Element 6

For use by the airline. It can be assigned by the airline to highlight data specific to the
airline. Alphanumeric code (three digits).

C. MTOSS function codes

The first two digits of the function code (fourth element in the numbering system) are in
accordance with the ATA Specification No. 2200. In some instances the third digit is used for
further breakdown of the basic function.

ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST

TASK 33-46-11-871-802-A01
1. Function

A. General

(a) The Illustrated Part List (IPL) contains the illustrations and the parts lists for the
assembly given in the Leading Particulars (Ref. Description and Operation). The parts
lists give the items which can be disassembled, repaired or replaced, and assembled.

TASK 33-46-11-879-805-A01
2. How to Use this Section

A. General

(a) Not all the details in 2.B. thru 2.G. are always used in the Illustrated Parts List (IPL).

B. Fig/Item Column

(a) The figure number is given at the top left of the column. It shows how the parts list is
related to an illustration.

(b) The end item number 1A is applicable to that end item (assembly) which is shown in
the illustration. Variants are given immediately after the end item (1B, 1C,... as
applicable).

(c) A dash (-) before an item number shows that the item is not shown on the illustration.

(d) The item number sequence follows, as far as possible, the sequence in which the end
item is disassembled. The sequence is broken to let more items be put in to the
sequence, when necessary.

(e) Alpha suffixes are given, A thru Z (without I and O), when it is necessary to add more
items to show:

1 Special-to-type items.

2 Service bulletin modifications.

3 Configuration differences.

4 Parts that were made better (not service bulletin modifications).

(f) Alpha suffixes to the item numbers are not shown on the illustration (when the shape
and location of the alpha item are the same as the basic item).

(g) Parts which make a selection-from-a-range group are given a sequence of not-shown
item numbers. This does not apply to the supplied configuration, or to the part number
of the smallest part which is shown.

C. Part Number Column

(a) The part number column contains the part number which can be:

1 A standard part number such as AGS, MS, AN, LN and others.

D. Airline Part Number Column

(a) This empty column (with space for 11 characters) is given for the use of the equipment
operator.

E. Nomenclature Column

(a) The parts are shown in an indenture system sequence. This shows how one part is
related to the other parts, as shown below:

1234567 (Indenture number)

Assembly or Installation Assembly (RF) number (End Item)
Parts which attach the assembly or installation of the RF assembly
***
.Detail parts for assembly
.Subassembly (secondary to end item)
.Attaching parts for subassembly
***
.Detail parts for subassembly
.Sub-subassembly (secondary to subassembly)
.Attaching parts for sub-subassembly
***
...Detail parts for sub-subassembly

NOTE: The words 'or Installation Assembly (RF) number' refer to:

– Those times where an identity which cannot be got is given to a

group (installation) of parts

– That group (or installation) of parts does not make a known

assembly.

(b) When the entry in the part number column is not a Sirio Panel part number, this data
will follow the noun (and words which change that noun).

1 A five character code that identifies the vendor code of the supplier or the
standard parts authority, or the manufacturers name.

2 The DSR number.

(c) The suppliers part number and vendor code is given in the nomenclature column. This
is when:

1 A DSR number is given in the part number column because the suppliers part
number is too long (more than 15 characters).

2 The suppliers part number is not available.

(d) When a DSR number is given in the part number column (because a suppliers part
number is not available), the data in the nomenclature column gives:

1 The materials from which the part is made

2 Its dimensions.

3 The suppliers vendor code.

(e) Parts which you must be careful with are identified. For example electronic
components which are sensitive to electrostatic discharge are identified with the
abbreviation (ESDS) in brackets.

(f) Parts Replacement Data

1 The parts that are interchangeable are identified in the NOMENCLATURE

column of the parts list. The abbreviations used to show if those parts are
interchangeable are given in the table below:

Term Parts list Definition

Abbreviation

Optional OPT The part is optional to and is interchangeable with

other parts in the same item number group (or
other item number if specified).
Superseded by SUPSD BY The part is replaced by and is not
interchangeable with the item number given.
Supersedes SUPSDS The part replaces and is not interchangeable with
the item number given.
Replaced by REPLD BY The part is replaced by and is interchangeable
with the item number given.
Replaces REPLS The part replaces and is interchangeable with the
item number given.

(g) Included through Service Bulletin Procedure:

1 (PRE SB XXXX) in the Nomenclature column identifies the initial configuration.

2 (POST SB XXXX) identifies the assemblies and the parts after the service
bulletin modification is completed.

F. Effectivity Column

(a) Parts identified with an effectivity code (A, B, C,... as applicable) must be used with
parts which have the same or no effectivity code.

G. Units per Assembly Column

(a) The quantity given is the quantity of that part necessary to build:

1 Its subsequent higher sub-subassembly.

2 Subassembly.

3 Assembly or installation level as applicable.

(b) AR (As Required) is the quantity that is necessary for that assembly. It is used for bulk
items, and selection-from-a-range parts that are not shown on the illustration.
