Practical Information Guide

OBJECTIVES

The Empower Her: Youth Leaders Shaping Change shall target specific points of
improvement for the holistic growth and development of the youth.

● To create a chapter-wide activity for the establishment or reactivation of Red Cross


Youth (RCY) school-based councils, fostering coordination and strategic
partnerships.
● To empower the youth through social activities, expanding their network for holistic
growth and development.
● To champion women and their contributions to nation-building, especially, in the
service of the Red Cross movement.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

● This year’s general theme is: Empower Her: Youth Leaders Shaping Change
● All participants must be bonafide Red Cross Youth (RCY) members of a
school-based Red Cross Youth Council.
● All participating Red Cross Youth must have an active Membership Accident
Assistance Benefits (MAAB) card.
● All participating Red Cross Youth must have undergone a Youth Volunteer
Formation Course (YVFC) or Youth Volunteer Orientation Module (YVOM)
within five (5) years, from 2019 to 2024.
● Junior Red Cross participants must belong to grade levels 4 to 6.
● Senior Red Cross Youth and Senior Plus Red Cross Youth participants must
belong to grade levels 7 to 12.

● Each RCY Council shall send only two (2) contestants for each contest, except for
the Infomercial Competition.
● Each contest shall have a Champion, 1st Runner-Up, and 2nd Runner-Up, all of
which shall be judged according to the provided criteria per competition.
● Participants who will not receive a placement shall receive a certificate of
participation and a token of appreciation.
● The decision of the judges is final and unappealable.
● The awarding of all contest winners shall be held at the Philippine Red Cross -
Pasay City Chapter.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

● Duly accomplished Application Form.


● Parental Consent
● Photocopy of the following:
○ Membership Accident Assistance Benefits
○ School-issued Identification Card (ID)
○ Proof of Youth Volunteer Formation Course or Youth Volunteer Orientation
Module completion (Certificate of attendance)

POSTER-MAKING CONTEST

● Available only for Junior Red Cross members.


● Only two (2) participants per Red Cross Youth Council shall be allowed to join
the competition.
● The poster shall be made on the provided 1/4 illustration board (20x30 inch) of
the organizer.
● The participant must bring a maximum of sixteen (16) colored oil pastels, a
pencil, and an eraser.
● Tissue and other cleaning materials for the worktable shall be provided by the
organizers.
● Bringing materials not included in the mechanics is strictly prohibited.
● The poster-making venue shall be the Philippine Red Cross - Pasay City
Chapter on April 6, 2024, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
● Volunteers shall be made available to assist the participants. The program shall
follow the stipulated schedule:

● The posting of entries shall be on April 7, 2024, at 8:00 am. On the same day, an
online voting contest will be held from 8:00 AM to 11:59 PM, through the
Facebook page of the Pasay City - Red Cross Youth. Only “heart” reactions will
be counted as official votes. Mentioning, auto-likes, and other forms of
attention-grabbing are prohibited, except for sharing.
● Entries must fall under the following theme:

and Canva, among others.
● Submitted photos and captions must be original to the participants.
Plagiarism of any kind shall result in disqualification.
● The following format for the caption must be followed:
a. Three (3) to Ten (10) sentences.
b. Must be in the English or Filipino Language but not Taglish.
c. Must include the official hashtags of the competition.

INFOMERCIAL COMPETITION

College Red Cross Youth members
● Only one (1) entry per Red Cross Youth Council, the team of which shall be
composed of three (3) to five (5) participants, including one (1) adviser
(optional).
● Entries must fall under the following theme:
a. Empower Her: Youth Leaders Shaping Change
● Submitted videos and captions must be original to the participants. The use
of music should be non-copyrighted. Plagiarism of any kind shall result in
disqualification.
● The maximum time for entries shall be one (1) minute and thirty (30) seconds.
● Entries should be submitted on April 15, 2024, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
● Posting of entries shall be held on April 16, 2024, at 8:00 am. On the same day,
an online voting contest will be held from 8:00 AM to 11:59 PM, through the
Facebook page of the Pasay City - Red Cross Youth. Only “heart” reactions will
be counted as official votes. Mentioning, auto-likes, and other forms of
attention-grabbing are prohibited, except for sharing.
● The infomercial entry shall be submitted through this Google Form link:

General Criteria for Judging

● Mechanics of Judging for Poster-Making Competition


➢ Once all the final submissions for the poster-making contest are collected,
the judging process will commence within the chapter. We strongly
encourage critics to be present in the chapter for the evaluation process.
This will ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment of all entries.
➢ The working committees will label the poster with numbers. All posters will
be presented to the judges without the names of the participants to ensure
fairness.

➢ The scores from the judges will be totaled and will consist of 90% of the
total scores.
➢ The formula for the judges’ scores will be the following:

➢ The team that successfully garners the most votes on the online platform
will be automatically accorded a 10% allocation in the overall criterion.
