FINITE VERB

Finite VERB is able to function in a clause


and/or sentence.
The SUBJECT must be able to
perform/experience the VERBs action or
condition.
Finite VERB always has a specific TENSE
There are 4 types of Finite VERB

FINITE VERB

Transitive VERB: The SUBJECT must be able


to perform the action to an OBJECT.
e.g. He kicks the ball.
Transitive VERB can be Active-Passive.

Intransitive VERB: The SUBJECT performs a


self-action.
e.g. He runs to the hills.
Intransitive VERB cannot be Passive, only
Active.

FINITE VERB

Linking VERB: The SUBJECT is linked to a


complement (words that complete a
sentence).
e.g. He is the ball.

Stative VERB: The SUBJECT is represented


by a mental/conceptual VERB.
e.g. He seems sad.
