Are you male or female?

In our survey, we deliberately asked this
question, are you male or female? first
to get a general idea of the dominating
gender. This will further our
understanding on the influences that
gender has on peoples interests on
films. As you can see, more females
answered the survey than males. About
67.50% were females, whereas 32.50%
were males. This is helpful to us because
we can analyse the comparisons of the
answers given for the other questions
asked. Furthermore, the gap in the

What movies genres are you

into?
For our second question, we wanted to find
out what types of genres the two different
genders are into. From these results, we
found out that the majority of the people who
answered our survey, evidently had
humorous personalities as comedy had the
most votes. The second most enjoyed genre
was thriller. This was very helpful to us as our
chosen genre for our opening sequence is
urban thriller. This means that people will
have an interest in our production, seeking
the thriller element that it will contain. If we

What is your least favourite genre?

On the other hand, dance/ musicals was
the least favourite with 2.50% of the
answers being this option. Me and partner
were both pleased to receive this as a
result because one of our chosen elements
of our opening sequence was thriller which
was far from being the least that people
liked. Yet again, it wouldve been a brilliant
idea to include the option of the urban
genre to see what our audience think of it.
Hopefully, people wouldnt have disliked
the urban genre if we included it. However,

How often do you watch

movies a month?
This question may seem irrelevant but it
really isnt. This question was specifically
asked to see the general interests in movies
we could tell if people are quite addicted to
films or whether it is a one off activity that
they enjoy doing. From these results, we can
see that 35.90% answered 5 or more. If
necessary, we could ask these people about
their views on our opening sequence as they
have an enjoyment in watching movies.
They would be good to use to further the
development of urban thriller opening
sequence.
I am quite surprised that 2.56% answered
not at all as watching movies is just a great

What do you enjoy about

movies?
I think that this question is our most
creative one that allowed us to get
a better understanding of what
peoples interests within various

How are you able to access

movies?
Seeing how people access movies
was quite important t ask
because it would enable us to
differentiate the advantages and
disadvantages of where
advertising has on the amount of
views a film may get. Also, it
could suggests how much people
are willing to pay to watch films.
Netflix was chosen most with the
percentage of 40. Surprisingly, no
one chose the option of
YouTube. We made other an
option, however, we didnt allow
them to specify their option

What gender do you prefer to

play the protagonist?
This was such an interesting question
as some people may feel it was quite
irrelevant to ask. Furthermore, by a
big percentage, the majority of
people said that it didnt matter what
gender the protagonist was.
As a group, we already decided that a
male would play this role. It was
interesting to see that 17.50% of the
responses chose female and 2.50%
chose male. Considering todays
society, I thought that people would
still have sexist views meaning that
male would have the most votes.

how much do you enjoy urban
films?
This was one of the main
questions that we wanted to get a
positive response from as our
chosen genre has an element of
urbanity within our opening
sequence. The highest
percentages on average were
seen at 5 and above even though
this scale graph isnt clear.
27.50% chose 5 which meant that
they were in the middle. No one
chose 1, however, 2.50% chose 2
which isnt bad at all as it is a

Alongside the previous question,
this is also an important question
that we asked considering the
key thriller element that we are
planning to include in our
opening sequence. Yet again, the
higher number of rates came
from 5 or more. This was a good
result because we can continue
our ideas with our urban thriller

What elements would you use

or expect to see in an urban
thriller film?

In our survey, we asked this question last because we

wanted to see what sort of elements people are used to
seeing in urban thrillers so we could potentially subvert
them and make it different. Also, because we wanted to see
what people may include if they had the opportunity to
produce an urban thriller movie. We made it a question
where they had no choice but to answer because it was the
most helpful and they had freedom in what they wrote. This
question was put last so that they could spend more time on
it. We had quite a few useful and thoughtful answers that
we would benefit us. We will consider definitely realistic
character, atmospheric lighting and settings. From this, I
understand that the use of different high and low key
lighting will play a major role in our sequence. Also, the
underlying sense of threat will help us exaggerate the
thriller feeling in relation to a complex plot with twists
