COMMUNICATION

Open Office Architecture: The work environment(open with no private office) in

the office (benching) created a dynamic and close-knit culture, and Jules was open
to feedback
BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION
1.) Example: Becky is unable to show her true value to her boss Jules Ostin
Selective perception :.Jules ostin due to severe lack of time, selectively hear what
she wants to hear. Due to this she fails to see the value of Becky, who despite being
a business graduate from Upenn is doing only scheduling work for her.
2.) Example: CEO lost the deal with Jules Ostin when he used the word chick Site.
Language: When it comes to making a deal, language plays a huge part. Age and
context plays a major role in this case. Probably the CEO candidate could have used
the word chic.
Communication process
Situation in point: Jules asked becky to share her work with Ben and
take help from him. She wanted her to communicate this to Ben.
CHANNEL
Message
SENDER(Jules) ENCODING (FACE TO Receiver(becky)

FACE)

NOISE
(perceptual
problem)
Learnings
Emails are convenient but dont let them hinder a face-to-face chat.
Example: Jason messes things up with Becky and tries to persuade
her by spamming her with texts and emails rather than have a face to
face communication.
