Any art form can never be made


complete without the creative
utilization of essential elements.
ELEMENTS OF ARTS
 Form and Shape - pertains to the
external appearance of a clearly
define area.
 Texture - pertains to the surface
characteristics including the
smoothness and coarseness of an
artwork.
ELEMENTS OF ARTS
 Volume – refers to the solidity of
an object which determines the
thickness, length , and height.
 Perspective – relates to the
spatial relationship of objects as
well as the position of object in
space.

 Space – best represented in two-
dimensional surface such as in
painting and drawing
Positive space – a space filled with
images, figures, and colors
 Negative space – pertains to a
space which is perceived vacant.

 Line – this is considered as a
highly universal and primitive
means of creating visual arts.
 Straight lines – suggest steadiness
and force
 Curve line – convey flexibility ,
energy , and grace
TYPES OF STRAIGHT LINES
 Vertical – connotes poise,
strength, and dignity
 Horizontal – suggest serenity,
peace , width , quietude
 Diagonal – conveys action and
movement
 Broken – implies confusion,
tension , and disturbance
TYPES OF CURVE LINES
 Helical or spiral – winding round in a
continuous curve up or down a center
pole
 Scroll – a curve line that follows “S”
form
 Convex - curved or rounded like the
exterior of a sphere.
 Convex – hollowed or rounded inward
as percieved in the inside part of bowl

 Color – this is the most important
and most noticeable elements of
visual art.
 Primary color – red, yellow, blue ,
green , and violet
 Intermediate color – yellow red,
yellow green , blue green, blue
violet , and red violet
