VERBS

Modals are helping verbs

• They are used with the base form of the verb.


• Modals do not change form.
• Modals never end in “s.”
• They use “not” to make the modal verbs negative.
• Modals lack past tense forms, except could and would
which serve as the past of can and will.

POST ACTIVITY: PREPARING MYSELF FOR A
JOB INTERVIEW
• Imagine you are applying for your dream job and you
need to answer only three questions to get the job.

• Answer each question in two simple sentences.


• Use modal verbs to answer.
• Use the dossier to support your answer.

 Can you do the job? (Skills, attributes, knowledge, experience,


understanding)
 Will you do the job? (Enthusiasm, commitment, loyalty)
 Will you fit in? (Personality, attitude, approach, good fit with
company ethos, values and the existing team)

When you finish, ask to your partner the three questions and she/he
will give you his/her answers. Then he/she asks and you answer.
